Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco was fined $5,000 for wearing an orange chin strap during a preseason game.

Ochocinco first wrote about the fine on his Twitter account Saturday, saying, "WTF I got a damn fine already, it's the damn preseason, this is some b-------!!!!"

Rule 5, Section 4, Article 3(a) specifies that all players must wear a "Helmet with chin strap (white only) fastened and face mask attached."

On his Twitter account, Ochocinco said he was suing the NFL for discrimination.

"Im sueing [sic] the NFL," he wrote at about 1:45 p.m. ET, "I am color blind so this fine is discriminating because I'm disabled in a way, this is a sad day for me:("

He also posted a photograph of the letter he received from the league.

Ochocinco also posted a reaction to the fine on ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen's Twitter account, writing, "mort this is [expletive] ridiculous, I am typing a letter back to the league office as we speak, I'm fining they a$$ [sic] back!!!! :("

In three preseason games against the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams, Ochocinco has six receptions for 151 yards and no touchdowns.

Who cares what colour a damn chinstrap is!
What a stupid way to fine $5k, At least he is wearing one, Let him wear any reasonable colour he wants, It matches the helmet anyway, Its not like it draws attention to it like a rainbow chinstrap would

Its a rule.... just a rule of which they have many. He needs to follow it just like everyone else. You would think that the helmit would come with the correct color strap and that OC would have taken off the correct one and put on the wrong one.

Some guys just can't get it right. They think it's their way or the highway.

They have lots of ego problems...thinking that the world goes around them.

I have to be honest I kind of like this guy. I know he has a big ego. I know he puts his foot in his mouth all the time. But in all honesty would we really ever talk about Cincy if he was not there? (Or unless Titans were playing them or in my case Dallas)

Also I know for the most part fans fall into two catagories.

One the old schoool grind it out, play a true hard faught battle, and be respectful person on and off the field.

Two the fan that loves to be entertained. Give me a showboat every once in a while. Give me the trash talker that backs up his play the one that goes on a sports talk show and makes fun of not only others but of himself.

I used to love watching "Hollywood Henderson" waving the really towel in Dallas screaming we are number 1 even when they were down by 30. Billy White Shoes Johnson Shotting his six shooter after a touchdown catch.

I say if Ocho had no skills then his actions would be emberassing but he does have skill and he is fun to watch.

I'm old school until someone makes it entertaining enough to be new school :D

I, for one, miss Chad's touchdown celebrations. They were never meant to taunt the opposing team. His celebrations were just Chad being goofy. I mean, the Riverdance, the cheerleader proposal, the Hall of Fame jacket, the golf putt, etc. How could you not be amused?

Ok so Deon never entertained? Did you not laugh a little when T.O. pulled out his sharpie to sign a football after a touchdown? What about the first time you saw a QB Sack dance? ( that did go to far later on and I am glad it is gone) But there are times when celebration is fun, there are times when big personalities can draw you in, I am under the belief that if the game became strictly about the X's and O's then every one including old school type fans would lose intrest in the game.

However I like that there are two types of fans for the most part because that in itself is entertaining. I like having discussions about ideas that are different than mine.

But we know deep down old school wants to be just as entertained as the fans that watch for the entertainment of the game. :p

As ego-drive as Chad is... he's clearly making a valid point.
A ridiculous fine, followed by a ridiculous lawsuit.

It isn't a ridiculus fine. It is a rule. You may be able to argue that the rule is ridiculus, but it is still the rule.

They fined him for wearing an orange chin strap but they never fine guys for the other part of that rule. I don't know how many times i see QB's go up the line without their chin strap strapped up. That's a safety issue and they don't enforce it but when it comes to the color they care. That's just ridiculous.

Sure and whenever I found something else entertaining I became new school for that, too. Some stuff has been stupid though and, especially when it costs yards, I revert to old school.
