View Full Version : Is everyone worth hearing... Some are, but not all

I go on some message boards or a football site and there is now comment boxes on all these sites, which is fine except that some people shouldn't be allowed to comment. I wouldn't mind seeing some board out there where you have to be worthy to post you ideas. I know everybody is a journalist or columnist now so we all should see their stupid points they cant make. I just would like to go to a site where not everyone feels like they know what they're talking about. I myself am open minded about various topics, but others out there continuously say something and then contradict themselves just helping me make this point. I use to enjoy NFL.com's articles as well as ESPN.com's but now since everyone feels they know better I cant post a comment because some jerk off somewhere in their mothers basement is screwing around spamming the sites not giving people with a decent opinion a chance to get heard. I know this board has good thoughts, but I found that other ones don't and there's only so much I can say about the topics created on titanstailgate. Anyone on here feeling the same?

I find it is best to ignore the people that I feel are contradictory on a regular basis. The fact is that anyone who posts as much as myself is bound to contradict themselves from time to time and I am sure that I have. The point of a message board is to give people a place to state their opinion. Sometimes that opinion changes and sometimes it does not.

In my opinion onions are a horrible food and it should be against the law to grow them. Is my opinion ridiculous? Sure it is, to people who enjoy onions. The world is filled with all walks of life and many different types of personalities are Titans fans.

If you are arguing with a brick wall, you can't really blame the wall.

I really don't read comments on ESPN.com, NFL.com, or the like. There are usually too many with too many perspectives. I occassionaly read (and post)the Tennessean.com comments, since at least that is local opinion.

At least on message boards, I just don't have a problem with people posting what is on their minds. If I like it, I will read it. If I don't, I won't. I have only a few pet peeves.

1. Don't be a troll. It isn't hard to start a topic where the whole purpose is to get people riled up. That isn't constructive and isn't very interesting (though occassionaly they can be pretty funny. :lol)

2. At least make your posts understandable, preferably with correct grammar and spelling. There were some posters on the TOMB that were in such a hurry to write something, that they tried "text-speak". It's just not fun or interesting to read.

3. Try to avoid being too hateful, especially when talking about the Titans. We all love the Titans, and it certainly fine to criticize the team from time to time. I just get really down when posters just want to tear down the team. I imagine there were quite a few banned members of the TOMB that just signed on to the board to bash the Titans over and over again. That just isn't helpful.

Okay now, see you are one of the people out there who I cant be upset with. You know how to express your self, and make a point. I wouldn't mind these sites if all the postings were similar to yours. I agree with you there about the brick wall.

It all depend on my mood. Sometimes I enjoy reading all the clutter and contribute to it myself. Other times it just gets in the way of good posts. The only thing that gets to me is when one conversation is carried on forever and everyone just keeps repeating themselves. Some times you just have to agree to disagree.

Saute' onions with mushrooms, put on medium rare porterhouse steak, crumble blue cheese on top... eat best meal of your life.

* Brought to you by "Onions: The vegtable so good it was worshiped by Egyptians" *

The Ancient Egyptians worshiped it,[6] believing that its spherical shape and concentric rings symbolized eternal life. Onions were even used in Egyptian burials as evidenced by onion traces being found in the eye sockets of Ramesses IV. They believed that, if buried with the dead, the strong scent of onions would bring breath back to the dead.

Hmm that last bit seems backwards to me though ;-) Onion Breath = DEADLY !

Oh wait, that was off topic .. WTH ?!? Am I a jibber jabber poster too
?? OH THE HUMANITY !!

"Besides the fact that they may promote gas, onions raw or cooked can cause Heinz body anemia when overeaten. While eating onions (but also turnip, cabbage, garlic, ...), red blood cells get destroyed and this causes anemia. However, red blood cells get regenerated all the time and a number of red blood cells have to be destroyed before this happens."

They make you cry when you prepare them. The universe has spoken.

How not to cry when you cut Onions:

The "Sure Fire" Ways:

1) The toxins are in the base of the onion--if you cut around it, they won't be released, et voila! ( actually doesn't work with white onions for some )

2) Cut the onions while they are fully submersed in water.

3) Have some one else cut them for you !!! ;-)

4) Buy pre cut onions!!

The universe offers many solutions !

Discounted wives tales:

Bread in the mouth .. supposedly a gluten break down , blah blah blah ..
Drink a bit of vinegar .. seriously?? Ew ..
Chew gum ..
Squint
Breath only through your mouth

I love onions - fried or raw. Never had the courage to eat one as a hand veggie as Mel Gibson did in Lethal Weapon 3 though (I think it was 3).

If you don't like to eat them, at least check out http://www.theonion.com - a hilarious website.

I hate pickles

Same here.

Every time I ask for a burger, I let them add that stuff, and then I take it out. Otherwise, I spend like 5 mins. waiting for my order to be delivered.

I am of the opinion that pickles are satanic! God wouldn't do that to a perfectly good cucumber.
