View Full Version : steeler Week GAME ON!

OK it is on, today I met with my friend that is a steeler fan, and the smack has begun.

What do we do as fans to counteract the towel stomping that our players did.

As I told him and he agreed, I saw nothing wrong with maybe blowing my nose in it, wiping tears away and then tossing it in the trash. He was fine with that, but the butt wiping and the stomping of it may have been a tad over the line.

How do my fellow Titan fans feel about this, or bring up anything else you care to discuss this week.

Every steeler fan will need this after next Thursday's game. :lol

I am waiting for this game since they announced the 2009 schedule.

I really, REALLY want us to win this game...only to make a stand in the NFL. And start the new season strongly.

If we continue to play as we did on last season...there's no doubt in my mind that we can defeat them again.

If I had one I'd urinate on it and then set it on fire, but I wouldn't urinate on it again to put the fire out.

Is that over the line?

I can help with that... You still have this Mike?

Serisouly a freaking towel? So scary. So terrible. At least like you said, they have something to wipe their tears off with. I can't wait for this game myself what a way to open the season. With the steelers going 0-1.

You know, I will admit that I'm still not sure how our D-line will do without Haynesworth this season (I know with preseason there isn't much planning) but all I know is that we didn't need him to beat the Steelers last time!

There is NO TEAM any longtime Oiler/Titan fan despises more than the Pittsburgh Steelers. It is not even remotely close. As far as I am concerned, our players should have wiped their ass with that ridiculas yellow diaper!

Also, beware, there is a closet Steeler fan lurlking on this board. I know this for a fact.. If I see any disloyalty this week this particular poster will be outed. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!

To me over the line would be some kind of physical altercation such as throwing a punch, pushing someone, throwing something at someone, spitting on them. That's over the line.

Stomping on a towel, I don't care how terrible it is, is just that, stomping on a towel. Anything that is done with another teams "colors" or merchandise whether the item is real or implied, is part of being a fan of your team.

The Steeler fans who brought their "Terrible Towel" (aka Pennsylvania snot rag) got exactly what they deserved. You don't go into someone else's house, wave that thing around like you own the place, and expect not to face repercussions.

They were just crying because they expected to whip our backsides, and wound up being bitch-slapped in the process. How do they think our players got a hold of one of the towels? Because of one those Steeler fans either threw it in disgust or dropped it while scratching himself/herself for the umpteenth time during the game.

No one disrespected the radio announcer who created the towel, nor the charity it supports. Tennesseans are very generous when it comes to charity. It was strictly a blow to the obnoxious Steeler fans who didn't mind their manners. Southern hospitality was temporarily suspended in order to bring the uncouth back to reality.

As someone said last year, and I can't give credit because I don't remember. ( I used it for a sig for a while) To paraphrase. "They're worried about us stomping their towel? It looks like they would worry about us stomping their QB's ass!" :D

If memory serves me correctly, they (Steelers) are 5.5 point favorites. THIS is what we like to call in gambling circles as a , "LOCK" . They will beat you silly. They're at home, have a very nice running game, a defense to boot and yes, they'll rally around the snot rag. You start the season 0-1. "YOU DO NOT WANT TO OPEN AGAINST THE STEELERS !".- L13

You are ignoring the fact that the Titans own the Steelers since they left Houston. 11-4 overall, including a 4-3 record in Pittsburgh.

I have a lot more faith in the Titans beating the Steelers than them beating Seattle.

I haven't checked your schedule (perhaps I should have) but are you concerned about the WEATHER in Seattle in December ? Otherwise, I don't see a very strong Seahawks team. But that's just me....

The fact is that Titans/Oilers have lost every game in Seattle since 1997. Titans do not play well on the West Coast. Traveling over 2,000 miles and 2 hour time difference does affect the teams playing.

A great example is the my LSU Tigers traveled 2,500 miles to play Washington in a game that ended at 12:50 AM today(early Sunday morning)Nashville and Baton Rouge time. Washington was literally "on fire" for this game and had almost if not more than twice the number of plays on offense as the Tigers. It was a struggle for LSU to win 31-23 but I am thrilled that they did.

So yes I think the January 3, 2010, game in Seattle will be tough. Weather should be no different from Nashville. More danger of wet weather than snow in the city of Seattle.

Add in the fact that Seattle will probably not have as many injuries as they had last year. The Seahawks are a good team, and will probably win the division over the Cardinals.

Titans win this game because of a sound defense and ball control on offense. Also if it comes down to FG's which seems likely the Titans have a clutch FG kicker in a top game. Also I just think the Titans are a little better all the way around compared to last year. Another thing going for Titans this game actually means more to them. Pitt. should win their division with no worries and the Titans know if they get off to a strong start it will make their life easier in their own division. Also there is always that chance of the Super bowl slump. Damn I hate Pittsburgh!

What?!?! lol How can you not like that answer? :p

They asked a question and he gave a great answer to it. He's entertaining without being over the top like some others are. I guess he could not have said anything but, really, everyone cant be the good guy. lol

But, i get it. No need to give the other team bulletin board material.

Kearse:

"I’m not even paying attention to that anymore. It happened. It’s in the past," Kearse said, according to The Nashville City Paper. "That was last season. It happened last season, so what? If they want to use that as motivation, let them go ahead and use that as motivation. I mean, rah, rah, rah. We stomped on a towel, so what? That’s what we were supposed to do in our house."

You gotta love that response, lol WTF Freak

White said that privately he's really "soft." He doesn't really despise the Pittsburgh Steelers or their fans, he said, and the same goes for any other NFL team.

"Listen man, I have nothing but love for all those other cities," White said on Monday. "I just joke around, I just mess around. I just have fun with it. LenDale White is a soft guy. I'm very soft, very soft on the inside. Soft. Soft. Soft. This is all look."

I have the impression that LenDale really likes this team and he uses every chance to demonstrate how much he feels about wearing two-tone blue.

He stomped on that towel for a reason, and while he added that pressure over him, I am sure that he feels ready for that challenge. He has the weapons to become an important player in thursday's game again.

Anti-Titans towel making the rounds
GARY ESTWICK, The Tennessean

Posted on September 8, 2009

It appears that the Titans made such a stomping impact on Steeler Nation last season that somebody created a hybrid version of the Terrible Towel, just to address LenDale White and company. It’s called the "Steel City Stomp Towel." A few are displayed in the Steelers locker room, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

After reading this story, I went back and watched footage of the final seconds of last season’s game. I didn’t realize or I forgot that Bo Scaife was involved with the stomping. Maybe that’s because White, Keith Bulluck and Jevon Kearse get most of the credit/blame.
