Picking Defensive players

I have played in many FFLs. However this is the first time I have ever had to pick defensive players. Is there any help and advice from anyone who has played in a league like that? This is my money league and not sure when I need to start looking at drafting my defense. Any info would be grateful and thanks.

How many rounds is your draft?

My league is 22 rounds and you see the top IDPs go in about the 14th or so.

DE
OLB
Safety
DT
MLB

How are points scored with DPs? Does it go by tackles?

Sacks ints and sometimes fumbles along with tackles

You really need to check your leagues scoring settings. The one I'm in is like this:
Defensive Players
Blocked Punt or FG return for TD 6
Each Interception 2
Each Fumble Recovered 1
Blocked Punt, PAT or FG 2
Each Safety 2
Each Sack 2
Interception Return TD 6
Fumble Return TD 6
Each Fumble Forced 1.5
Every Assisted Tackle 0.5
Every Solo Tackle 1
Every 1 Total Tackle 1
Each Tackle for Loss 2
Passes Defensed 0.5

So in my league LBs are the best to have, some Safetys. Basically guys in the middle of the field who get lot of tackles.

Since my league doesn't award a lot of more points for Sacks and INTs over regular tackles, and since you cant predict who/when a player will score a TD, you just go with a leading tackler.

Laurinaitis might be a good steal, because they suck, he is a rook, and teams will be running it up the gut on the Rams all season. Tulloch too, because most people don't know who he is.

I was able to pich up Curtis Lofton this week for my FFT (my money league) I think he is going to be a big pickup for me.
