HL:Titans tight end Scaife calls Harrison's hit ocheap shot@

NASHVILLE, Tenn. _ Tennessee tight end Bo Scaife called James
Harrison's shot on his left leg a ``cheap shot'' in the locker room
after the game. Titans coach Jeff Fisher doesn't agree.
Scaife missed the rest of the Titans' 13 10 overtime loss to
Pittsburgh after being hit by Harrison on the opening drive of the
third quarter. He was limping badly in the locker room and told The
Tennessean newspaper he thought Harrison dived at his knee.
``I have been playing my whole life and no one has ever hit me
like that. So I know when it is real and when it is not real. So it
was a cheap shot and I don't care if that gets back to him either,''
Scaife said.
Scaife fumbled on the hit, losing the ball in Pittsburgh
territory. He had five catches for 48 yards that finished second on
the team Thursday night.
Fisher was asked Friday if he agreed with Scaife's assessment.
The coach's answer was short: No.
``When the ball carrier's got the ball, he's a runner. The
defender ... can tackle him anyway he wants. I think the defender
was driving, was already low. It was just a strange set of
circumstances. If Bo catches the ball and turns up the sideline,
he's tackled low, gets up and we've got a first down,'' Fisher said.
``Bo tried to make the catch and come back underneath him to keep
things alive, trying to run after catch and got his leg planted.''
Scaife had an MRI on his knee Friday. Fisher said the tight end
has some swelling but will be day to day. The Titans host the
Houston Texans on Sept. 20 in their home opener.
The tight end has a reason to worry about his knees. He had to
overcome an ACL injury in high school in 1999, and two in college at
Texas in 2000 and 2002 before the Titans drafted him in the sixth
round in 2005. He led Tennessee in receptions with 58 last season,
earning a franchise tag that has him playing 2009 on a one year
tender for $4.46 million.

Yea that is what I was thinking the same thing. I know he got hurt and that sucks and my thoughts and prayers are with him, but after watching the replay a half a dozen times I think he should've made more of an effort to; a. hold on to the ball; b. attempt to recover the fumble; c. push it out of bounds. I know I sound kinda like a jerk, but that is the way I was coached coming up. You play to each whistle hurt or not.

Well jerk we are on the same page with this one. If he couldn't hold on to the ball then throw it out of bounds. :thumbsup

from pop warner football on, that is the way you are taught how to tackle. Scaife's comments are 'tool-like'

I can't stand James Harrison but I don't recall seeing that play and going OMG that was dirty. I said something profane about Scaife fumbling though. :lol

Clean tackle. The fumble really killed what was a nice opening 2nd half drive. Fish deferred on the opening coin toss for just that reason. Momentum swinger.

That game just had so many missed chances. We coulda have been up 20-7 in that game if we made the fg's and converted one of our deep drives orhad finnegan turned right while returning the int.

Agree! Unfortunately, this is the same team that ended the 2008 season losing not only to Baltimore but to Houston. They simply ran out of steam and could not "finish" the game. Looks like they still cannot "finish" the game. Next week's game against the Texans should either show us they have corrected the error of their ways and can finsh the game or show us they are already "pooped" and done. I, for one, really don't know which team we have yet.

I honestly think the extra pre-season game did them absolutely no favors. They looked like a team that needed a break already.

at first, it looked dirty, but after watching it again, it was a clean hit, alittle to low, but how is he supposed to stop himself when he is in full motion like that. he was just trying to do his job as a defender, scaife landed awkardly which caused him to get hurt, he needs to suck it up and let it go!!!

(on Bo Scaife’s status)

We did the MRI and the results came back good. He doesn’t have an awful lot of swelling and we’ll just list him as day-to-day right now

From Fisher's Friday's Press Conference from Titansonline.

The hit wasn't dirty....BUT, we should take it easy on Scaife. It's not our knee that hurts like a mofo.

I'm waiting for some response about not being Super Bowl Champions and doing that.
