Fish seems confident that our return game will improve:
(on sticking with Cortland Finnegan at punt returner)
Well, Ryan (Mouton) I thought did a good job for us in the preseason. He’ll be back, so we’ll be able to use Cortland and/or Ryan when he comes back. He’ll be 100 percent this week.
(on if he still believes the team’s returner is currently on the roster)
I thought Javon (Ringer), the ball was moving around a little bit. Had he caught the ball moving forward, we had some creases. The difference between catching a kickoff moving back, taking a step back, and moving through the kick is the difference in timing it up and the timing and everything. And the ball was moving. So, you saw what he did during the preseason. He can do that, and I also feel like Ryan can do it. At this point, I’m not looking around.

He's not even a nickel back in Baltimore's defense. He can't cover very well. Fabian Washington and Domonique Foxworth are the Ravens' starting corners. If the Ravens didn't have a great pass rush and linebacking corps, teams would eat them alive by abusing their corners.
Carr is a very good kick returner, but average to below-average in pass coverage. His INT last year was about being in the right place at the right time. Like all the INT's Reynaldo Hill managed to snag in his career.

With only 45 players allowed to be active on game day, coaches want players that can play something other than kick/punt returner.

was @ the game today, carr has looked terrible since he arrived here..... he only succeded with us because we gave him great blocking... the ravens suck (in blocking on ST as well)

This whole thing about PR/KR being one dimensional is so overstated. Take Carr for example. He was what he was...a good return guy with decent skills at his other position of CB. That's sorta the nature of a lot of ST positions. Josh Stamer, Donnie Nickey, Quinton Ganther just to name a few. Carr didn't look like anything special his first game here either. But having a guy who's been there and shown good return abilities is still something that's valued in the league. You take a chance if you start the season without it.

He wanted more playing time. He sucked first couple of games at returning. We could see the same w ringer. Give it time
I know he's extremely valuable to the offense and they want to protect him, but why not let Chris Johnson return kicks periodically? He returned some kicks in college.

cause if we loose him, we are potentially done and become the boring offense of two years ago

Chris Henry still on the roster? seems like I remember him doing OK returning, plus he can pop right back up after being hammered at full speed. :D

if it was only money they might have thought harder about keeping him.
but evidently he really wanted to do more then just return kicks.
though that also leads too more money.

...funny you ask. I was just watching a few games that I DVR'd from last season (Jax, Colts, etc...). He was a heck of a return man! I do not want to see Finny returning punts against the Texans!
