Great Story about Vince with McNair's kids. I know he's got his issues on the field, but he's a great guy off the field.

It's another positive step on the road to a higher level of maturity. Way to go, Vince! :thumbsup

That was a very unselfesh and thoughtful act by Vince Young. A nice memory the McNair boys will need in what has been a very forgettable year for them.

That shows me he has a lot of class that I for one did not give him credit for. Even such a small gesture to those boys is HUGE right now.

I think this is a great gesture by Vince. It just makes me even wish that 9 was here to do it with them instead. I admit I am still really shaken by his death and I am so angry at everyone involved including him. But I digress, kudos to VY those boys deserve it.

It was already posted in the Steve McNair thread but it was a good thing for Vince to do.

Vince is showing that he has learned that much is expected of those whom have been given a lot. Steve showed a young Vince a lot of love and he's paying it back through Trenton and Tyler.

Its a shame that all of this has happened, but I admire Vince for stepping up to the plate and doing this. And this isn't the first time he's stepped up....the boys were out at training camp several days as he and Jeff's guest.

This is all a part of the good things Steve left behind...he left his mark on Vince Young, who had no father figure to speak of as a kid. And he's going to make sure that the Mcnair boys have one themselves.

Great post.

BTW- I really liked you in the "What's Going Down" episode of "That's my Momma"

As I said in an earlier thread, these are the type reasons why I will always be a fan of his despite his bad play.

His strong desire to do good things for people just makes me feel good.

What a blessing for these kids, to have people that were moved by their dad, give back to them. I hope they always have what they need, and understand the kind of man their dad was.

I was surprised by this too but really shouldn't have been -- we've all known for a while he wears his heart on his sleeve. I guess I underestimated the capacity of his heart.

Those boys are blessed though it may not seem that way right now. So are we, to witness stuff like this. Mac is the gift that keeps on giving -- he's bringing out the best in people :)

It definitely brought tears of joy to my eyes. It showed me that Vince is maturing in more ways than one and it makes me proud of him! I would have loved to have seen the smiles on those little guys faces. Thank you Vince!!!!!

From reading the thread title, I thought this post was gonna be completely different :lolhit

That's a great story and is something that I would love to hear more from ESPN about rather than nothing but negative stories.

It didn't really surprise me. I always thought Vince was a good guy and someone who's probably fun to hang with. I never understood why fans think just because you are critical of a guys play on the field that its personal against the player. That's what got so frustrating on the old site to me. We haven't seen much of it here thank goodness. :lol

props to TMZ, I mean ESPN for running a positive story

Folks have told me that Young always does stuff like this. This is vintage Young.

true that! he has done things like this for a long time, at texas as well. so its nothing new. but he is taking it to a newer level which is very awesome! its just like i said before, once it all comes full circle for him, the sky is the limit, and the world will be his stage.

Vince Young is a class act, and even those who dislike him for his play should have no issues admiring him as a person.

Paying it forward.... I remember shortly after Steve died a TV announcer suggesting that the young men that Steve reached out to through his football camps ... he listed some guys currently in the NFL, but not Vince ...who should "pay it forward" for Steve's kids by doing for them what Steve had done for them. Vince has lived up to that with these gestures. My guess is others have done some things as well. Vince is good people, always has been. I think what he did good for this kids will come back to him in great ways too. Taking on the older brother/dad role will have a maturing affect for him. Life is like that. Paying it forward....
