They've yet to allow an offensive touchdown.
Defense is second in points allowed in the short season.

well, the way that we have been playing, and the way that the jets are playing, especially on d, we will be lucky to get out of there alive, much less with a win!

I swear it... they would have held a parade in Times Square today if they didn't think the rest of the nation would laugh at them. I mean, a little perspective here? Losing sucks but it's week two!

Rex Ryan successfullly made this a bigger deal than any September game I can remember. I guess you've got to give him credit for that.

The Jets play some mean and nasty D... think Baltimore, but a little faster and younger. The Titans have a much stronger run game than either the Texans or Patriots, so I'm hoping you guys pound it at 'em. If Kerry Collins has to win this game, I don't know...

I called it and predicted the Jets to take down the Pats. I saw the Jets in person in Houston. Sure, the Texans looked bad however I kept telling everyone that the Jets really looked that good. They remind me of Buddy Ryan's Eagles the way they blitz on almost every down. Sanchez also impressed the heck out of me. That guy is going to be nails in this league.

The Pats are coming back to the pack and the Jets will contend in that division this season.

Good win by the Jets again. They are still a young team so anything could happen however if they are 3-0 and the Titans are 0-3 after next week I won't be the least bit surprised.

However, if ANYONE knows that Buddy Ryan (now Rex Ryan) defense it is Jeff Fisher a Buddy Ryan disciple. He should know ways to exploit it. Collins better bring his A game and play well under pressure.

oh good lord scared of the frickin Jets.....if Rob makes some kicks in Pitt and we make 1 or 2 more plays we are 2-0...The NFL is a game of breaks and often 4-5 plays deterimine the outcome....i look for this game to be similar...JETS relax Titans fight for their life.....Tennessee 23 NYJ 9.....

I like the way the Jets are playing defense. They're getting pressure on QBs and forcing mistakes. You know the way we used to. Does anyone remember that? It was last year. That is the big difference in the way we played the straps and the way the Jets did.
In boxing, a blocked punch is never truly miss. Sure, the judges won't count it and, at the time, it seems ineffective. But sting along those blocked punches throughout the fight and the opponent gets tired keeping those arms up to get hit and also losses the power to land effective hits themselves.
The same concept applies to football. The Jets attacked Schaub and Brady relentlessly throughout their game; not always getting the sack, but always making their presence known. And what happened, the high powered Pats could not score a TD and Houston debated for week if they wanted to bench Schaub. We did not instill that fear into Schaub. In fact, he treated our Defense like a joke and disrespected us for over 300 yds. We need to discover a way to effectively attack the QBs again. To make them fear us again. If we don't then we will have to get used to this disappointment for the foreseeable future. I don't know if Chuck is using a "Wait and they will come around" approach in regards to our DL and providing additional pressure on opposing QBs. But he might want to remember that time is running out.

Why, Yvette? Did you not watch the Bills vs Patriots last week? Buffalo went in to New England and outplayed them, led by 11 with a few minutes to play, and basically beat themselves. The Patriots should be 0-2. The Jets beating them isn't a big deal, more than a few of the experts/analysts had the Jets winning that game.

On another note, fu#king Miami could've just done us a favour and handled Indy, dominate the entire game and don't do $hit.

First, I absolutely love the personality of the Jets team. Heavy on the hitting and trash talking. They are a nice flashback to the elder Ryans 85 Bears defense. Agressive! No soft d ever! :baseballbat

That being said. It's role reversal time. Sanchez is still a rookie qb and overconfidence will be a killer for NY this week.

The Titans will win this Sunday. *"That aint no prediction, that's how it's gonna be!" *VV

And Chuck Cecil is going to really show that rookie what the hard-hitting, rough and tumble NFL is all about by Blitzing 1, nay...two.. TWO big times this game, so it's virtually a lock that Sanchez will have less than 15 seconds to sit in the pocket at least TWICE, maybe even THREE times if our intimidating 3-man RUSH O DOOM gets lucky and 4 out of the 5 O-Lineman all fall down at the same time.

You've heard of basketball's 40 minutes of hell! Well, we're gonna give Sanchez 2 or 3 PLAYS OF HELL!

YEAH BOY!! :brick

The Jets defense gave Brady about 2 seconds or less to make his progressions.... if at all to get the ball out. Collins/Young would both need more time than that. Don't underestimate the roll they are on.

The 2-0 New York Jets, like most teams, are tinkering with the bottom of their roster.

Out is tight end Matthew Mulligan. In is cornerback Marquice Cole, promoted from the practice squad.

Cole was part of the 53-man roster for Week One, but he then was cut. Mulligan joined the Jets via waivers after being cut by the Titans on September 6.

So, basically, the Jets had gotten from Mulligan all the intel they needed in preparation for Sunday's game against Tennessee.

And now he'll go to Detroit.

oh good lord scared of the frickin Jets

Shouldn't we be?

This TN franchise is 1-4 against them, 0-1 in NY. We have been the favorite in at least 3 of those losses. Our only win was a 10-7 squeaker in 2007.

They are just one of those teams that give the Titans fits.

Sounds like Ryan and the Jets are trying to take the Patriots' place, LOL!

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/32975810/ns/sports-nfl/

Fans of the New York Jets have a unique place in the hearts of America. Of course, congenital defects, clots and LDL cholesterol also fit that description.

The typical Jets fan is male, about 26-35, built like Weeb Eubank, and has been wearing the same No. 12 jersey since the sixth grade, a garment that usually has been spared the indignity of repeated machine washings. The most important day in the life of a Jets’ fan is Draft Day, when he and his brethren gather inside a New York ballroom or arena to greet the franchise’s selections with catcalls and language that would make a Merchant Marine drop anchor so he could cover his ears.

Yet it appeared, for a while at least, that Jets Fan was poised for a makeover. And it all had to do with a stunning reversal of fortune. Instead of the franchise selecting a player that would trigger a replay of Mel Kiper Jr.’s now infamous 1989 assessment of its acumen — “It’s obvious to me that the Jets do not know what the draft is all about” — the Jets took quarterback Mark Sanchez this past spring with the fifth overall pick.

The arrival of the gifted and chronically upbeat Sanchez, coupled with the installment of Rex Ryan as head coach, sent tremors through Jets Nation. No longer would Jets Fan have to comfort himself with a 24-ounce draft and a chili-covered knish, although he certainly left that option open. The team’s fortunes were on the upswing. Joy to the %$#@! world.

But instead of spreading good will with this newfound prosperity, the Jets have, in a very short period of time, replaced the New England Patriots as The Team You Love To Hate. And it has nothing to do with on-field success.

Sanchez is fine. In fact, despite having done an excellent job managing the Jets’ offense and not making a boneheaded mistake in their 2-0 start, he’s practically innocuous. The USC product is supremely confident without being abrasive. He is so appealing that Jets Fan has to resist the temptation to put cheese and onions on him.

It's Ryan who might be the catalyst for turning the Jets into the Raiders East. And we all know how they’re doing.

Ryan has instilled a positive attitude in his players. Unfortunately, he also placed chips on their shoulders and apparently has encouraged them to act like MMA promoters.

Before Sunday’s 16-9 victory, Jets safety Kerry Rhodes said it wasn’t enough for New York to defeat the Patriots, they also needed to “embarrass” them. After the game, defensive end Shaun Ellis endorsed his mouthy teammate’s words, saying, “Kerry made a statement, we stood behind him and we had his back.”

Ryan also said he didn’t come to “kiss Bill Belichick’s rings” and declared, “We’re a football team that should be respected.”

Actually, the rest of the NFL, the fans and the media will ultimately decide that, Rex. Right now you should concentrate on the fact that your team has only played two games, and you’ve already used up 16 games’ worth of chutzpah.

The arrogance itself doesn’t bother me. I’m in the media, after all. We love colorful jokers who pop off. It keeps us busy. It spices up a slow news day.

It’s just that the Jets have a chance to build a legacy of football excellence, but they’ve chosen to get there by crawling through a mud wrestling pit. And that’s too bad...

The previous Team That You Love To Hate was the Patriots, but for different reasons. The Patriots rarely opened their mouths; in fact, it was Belichick’s sullen inscrutability, which spread throughout his roster, that rankled observers and opponents more than any overt attitude. Tom Brady, the team’s poster boy for goodness and victory, was always maddeningly efficient rather than brazenly antagonistic.

The Patriots got your goat by frustrating it; the Jets do it by hitting it with a shovel.

That’s tolerable when you’re 2-0. But if Ryan and the Jets lose a few; if they suffer a key injury or two; or if the clock strikes midnight and Sanchez starts to bear an uncanny resemblance to a pumpkin, then foes, fans and media alike will being to return the uncouth favors.

Ryan learned about football from his father, Buddy Ryan, a great defensive coordinator with the Chicago Bears and a so-so head coach with the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals. Buddy was never a student of the Ann Landers school of football etiquette. He liked to toss barbs as often as some coaches blow whistles. Buddy was quick to mix it up with coaches on his own staff (Ditka in Chicago, Kevin Gilbride in Houston) and was once accused by the Cowboys of taking a bounty out on some of their players.

Buddy knew his football, and Rex certainly has inherited his dad’s gift as a defensive architect and a motivator of players. Unfortunately, he seems to also possess the same amount of humility, which is in the negative numbers.

Near the end of the storied 1985 Super Bowl campaign, Buddy declared before the NFC Championship Game at frigid Soldier Field that Rams running back Eric Dickerson would put the ball on the turf at least three times. He was wrong, but Dickerson was held to 46 yards in a 24-0 thrashing by the Bears. Yet the laws of NFL physics dictate that for every opportunity to crow, there is an equal number of chances to eat crow.

Pomposity in the NFL often has a short expiration date. If Rex Ryan didn’t absorb that fact from his father at some point, I guess he’ll have to learn it the hard way.

And if I were Jets Fan, I would continue to sharpen my grousing skills, just in case. It’s still early in the season, and next year’s draft day will be here before you know it.
