How does everyone feel about this? VY got ripped for not being here. I think it smacks of selfishness and says not a team guy, but hey, what do I know.

As long as he's working out somewhere, it doesn't bother me. If I was a player, I'd spend as much time away as I could too, as long as the team didn't find too much of an issue with it. Not like he's holding out of training camp or anything.

I think he should be with the team

Wow! I'm really disappointed. The rookie needs a reality check.

Apparently CJ hasn't learned Fisherspeak yet.

“I expect Chris to come back and join the offseason program with his teammates,” Fisher said Thursday. “That’s all I’m going to say.”

translation: If you lose my respect, you're screwed. Just ask VY or LenDale.

Seriously though, LenDale screwed himself with this same Lone Ranger mentality.
Now he is going in to a contract year with less opportunities because Fisher/Dinger have their doubts. CJ needs to wake up. Fisher suspended VY for a camp violation, he doesn't give a flip how special you think you are.

If LenDale is hittin' it and gettin' it with the team, CJ may lose touches. Idiot

There is probaly a 100 different scenarios where the team wouldn't mind him not being there. Thinking he is too good for the team ain't one of them.

I really don't like it and I don't like the tone he's taking on it either. He needs to listen to his head coach. Following TO's example is the worst thing he can possibly do.

He knows they want him there and yet he is still deciding not to be there. Good move! :GrowUp

I have absolutely no problem with veterans skipping the voluntary workouts, but he hasn't earned that right yet. He is still a young player who needs to earn the respect of his coaches and fellow players. He is not doing that right now.

This is especially stupid if you consider how much Fisher and Co. have talked about making him a much bigger part of the offense. I honestly hope White goes in there, works his ass off, and proves he deserves his portion of the carries. That will serve two different purposes. The first being that White will be playing well and the second being that it might smack CJ across the face and show him that he always has to earn his carries.

I got an e-mail about this and it said there is way more concern about this than the Bo Scaife situation.

I guess it's good that I'm not an NFL agent.

How would you feel if everyone on the team decided to skip the workouts? It's more about team cohesiveness and chemistry than it is about making sure the guys stay in shape.

Part of it has to do with making sure they stay in shape and making sure they are exercising properly.

I am not happy about his decision. This kind of stuff usually does not bode well for a player's character.

I really didn't expect this out of CJ. I figured he would be upset over not winning rookie of the year and come back and really work to prove he is one of the top RBs in the league. he may be good, but with this attitude he will never be great.

This is kinda frustrating to find out, but I don't get too worked up over off-season workouts.

It's rookie holdouts and franchise player holdouts that piss me off.

yes this is how i feel about it.
it isnt just about being in shape but building the awareness of being a
team .
while i think the most important position to be there is the qb it is also true running backs do not exist out on an island.
there is an awful lot more to the position then just running around with the ball.

I hope the linemen don't decide to miss their blocks for this great running back that doesn't need to be with a team? :doh

Do I think he should be with the team? Yes, but it is voluntary. If it is going to be a big deal, and it is, when they have a choice, then the NFL should let the teams make it mandatory. You give a very young and a very rich person a choice, they are not always going to make the right one.

The NFL would make it mandatory if not for the union.

"I'm not like you."

That's what he's saying to the team IMO.

"He is not at their workouts, but he is probably one of the most in-shape guys in the NFL. He doesn't need a guy to motivate him; he motivates himself," Johnson said. "Some players need coaches to be yelling and screaming at them. Some players need motivation. Some players need other players around them to make them work hard. Some players can't be by themselves, away from the team and work out hard, but some players with goals and motivation can take it to the next level.

"No matter where they are at, they are going to work hard because they have goals to accomplish. I am the type player where I don't need a coach to make me work hard. I have chip on my shoulder and I am going to work hard whether I am there or not.''
