I saw this at PFT. What a weird way to start the season. And the fact they are 2-3 is pretty bad.

Week 1: Giants - lost 23-17
Week 2: Rams - won 9-7
Week 3: Lions - lost 19-14
Week 4: Bucs - won 16-14
Week 5: Panthers - lost
Week 6: Chiefs

Another amazing stat. The Chiefs have lost 28 of their last 30 games. :ohmy

See, we're a season and a half away from being that bad. :D

The Chiefs are showing signs of improvement. The Titans are continuing to backslide. The Chiefs replaced 29 players on their roster, 28 of whom are currently not playing NFL football. The Titans have almost the same roster as last season.

In contrast, the Patriots opened up the season against 5 straight undefeated teams.

Week 1 - Bills
Week 2 - Jets
Week 3 - Falcons
Week 4 - Ravens
Week 5 - Broncos

And they went a respectable 3-2. (They do get a break by playing two winless teams next - the Titans and Bucs)

Week 1 shouldn't even count IMO, niether team had played a game.

Week 1 counts both ways. I know it's tough to call the Bills an "undefeated" team and the Giants a "winless" team, but that makes the stat sound better. ;)

So those teams to date have had the toughest and easiest schedules in the NFL? Or does that stat change each week depending on how the previous opponents fare? Seems like cooking the books to me. :p

Actually, the Lions have the toughest SOS so far, with their opponents a combined 17-5 record.

The Browns are #2, with their opponents a combined 18-7.

The Pats are #3 with an opponent record of 15-9.

The weakest SOS so far is the Giants, with an opponent record of 6-19.

Redskins are #2, with an opponent record of 7-17.

Texans are #3, with an opponent record of 8-16.

Good stuff 309.

SOS is a strange stat. Beating a 3-2 team at home should be considered easier than beating a 2-3 team on the road. However, home/away is not taken into consideration. Is it?

I just did it based how the tiebreakers calculate it, which is based just on record.
