According to AOL NFL Fanhouse, Redskins owner Dan Snyder recently tried hiring former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan to replace Jim Zorn in-season, but Shanahan declined.
"Shanahan told the franchise there was little he could do in the middle of the season for them and that changing coaches during the season in the NFL rarely works," a source told Fanhouse, adding that DBs coach Jerry Gray is the most likely interim option should Snyder fire Zorn in the coming weeks. Snyder figures to approach Shanahan again immediately after this season.
