It's amazing how many games a team can win when their defense isn't bleeding 60 points a game.

Denver...still winning. In other news...Cutler has done **** in the NFL thus far.
Yikes on the letting up 60 points...still feeling the hurt. Damn. Point well taken.

More interestingly, "Denver WITH McDaniels : Winning". How many people were wrong about him in the preseason??! I was, for sure.

if he does this for the entire season i am a believer.
but there has been strange mojo in denver before.
right now the defense is carrying the team but if that changes..
but as i keep on saying the hot young coaches who are doing well have really good to great over experienced coordinators..
this is especially true for denver.
mike nolan is the defense coordinator and some of his past experience was linebackers coach for denver and d coordinator for the ravens..
The Ravens have ranked among the league's best defenses during Nolan's tenure. He took over a Ravens unit in transition in 2002; Baltimore used eight rookies to get through the season, and despite their youth the Ravens finished first on defense
from an espn article..
and maybe the reason orton looks decent is that the o coordinator is mike mccoy who made jake delhomme look good for awhile.

I'm with pookha on this one. There's been some strange ju-ju in Broncoland before. Let's see how it all shakes out in the end.

It's not so much that Cutler's talent caused Denver to miss the playoffs for three years. His presence alone just causes teams to fall short. He is an albatross to whatever team has him.

A little bitterness here, Mike? I thought you loved all things Vandy.
I love the avatar. Maybe it should be the mandatory default avatar until we win something. It might work.

Hate to sound like "I told ya so" because it was a gut feeling and nothing else, but I love everything McDaniels has done in Denver, including jettisoning that wannabee Cutler and telling it straight to the TO-in-the-making Marshall. He grabbed that team by the cahones and let them know who's in charge. Now that they're winning, they'll all buy into his plan... even Marshall. Personally I think they're 100% for real, and aren't going to fade after this great start.

actually the offense has issues.
it is their defense winning games.
the point totals are down from last year.

I have to admit that I'm buying whatever McDaniels is selling. He's got that team playing well. Reminds me of the 2008 Titans; hopefully for them they actually win the playoff game.
This could also be one of those trades that works out for both teams, like the Colts dealing Marshall Faulk to the Rams. Cutler may be just what Chicago needs (apparently they think so by extending his contract) and Orton may be the type of guy McDaniels works best with.

That's true but their offense hasn't killed them either. I just don't think Cutler would have run the offense the way Orton has. Cutler has too big of an ego and appears to be a little slow to process what's happening in front of him.

Jay Cutler has played poorly the last two weeks, and has cost his team a chance to win those games.
I don't believe it was wise for Chicago to already extend his contract. If Cutler doesn't pan out, the extension will be an albatross around the franchise's neck.
I still like Jay, but I'm being unbiased and realistic.

Not a huge Denver fan, but Cutler should have been careful what he wished for. I'm sure Marshall is glad he stayed.

Satire: Jay Cutler Intercepted On Drive Home
by Joe Huber Joe HuberScribe
It was an abysmal night for Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears, suffering a 24-20 heart breaker against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cutler threw yet another game ending pick while the Bears offense was driving the field.
Unfortunately for Cutler, it wasn't the only time he was picked off.
On the drive home Cutler was speeding through a suburban side road, and blew through a stop sign. The officer that pulled him over was baffled because Cutler knew that several cops covered the area.
"I couldn't believe that he thought he could get past us. I mean, there's always 2-3 cars sitting there", said the officer that wrote the ticket, and asked to remain anonymous.
Cutler declined to comment, but Carol Townsend watched from her front lawn.
"I didn't like his body language as the officer was writing the ticket. He looked like he was going to do it again the next time he drove by here," said Townsend, "I think I heard him on the phone with Ron Turner who said he would re-route him with less stop signs."
When questioned, Lovie Smith said that next time Cutler should take the bus, and to get off of it running, as to avoid any further contact with anyone not named Greg Olsen.
This is Cutler's 18th traffic ticket in 2009.

I hate the title of my own thread. Lets hope that Denver continues to suck. They didn't look so hot vs. Oakland today. Also, I think both Denver and Chicago are cursed because of the whole Cutler trade in the first place.

Saw this gem on TitansCentral
the way his year has been going, they could bench him and he could still get a couple INTs.
Heck, he could miss the team plane, be 2 time zones away, and the refs might give him one just because.

I expected the Bears to miss the playoffs. I didn't expect Jay Cutler to be an interception machine. :huh
25 interceptions. A 7.9 QB rating against the Ravens. :ohmy

More Cutler facts: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/7719/third-and-one-bears-13
The hits keep coming for quarterback Jay Cutler. His trio of interceptions gives him 25 on the season, which -- according to the Elias Sports Bureau -- is the highest total by a non-rookie in his first season with a new team since Ken Stabler threw 28 interceptions for Houston in 1980. And Cutler is only seven interceptions away from setting a new Bears record for most in a season, currently held by Sid Luckman (31 in 1947). Cutler is truly getting worse with every passing game in 2009. (Pun intended.)

Cutler is the ultimate tease. Jekyll and Hyde. He would make me want to throw myself off of the upper deck if he played for my team.
DO NOT WANT!
Is it safe to say that by the end of next season we will know who was the better draft pick?

Well, Cutler had the early lead, then gave it up to Vince this year. Vince passed by him by quite a large margin. Vince at his worst only threw 17 INT's, and that being his second season.
I like Jay, but he has regressed terribly and needs to either be sat down or have a Holmgren-like coach that Favre had to control him. Jay is too in love with his arm strength. He tries to fire the ball through the smallest opening, and has paid many times for it.
After 4 years in the league, I would think that the race is at least 75% over. Unless these two flip-flop their current form, Vince will wind up the winner. Leinart gets an incomplete because his career as a starter was ended by injury, and then by coach's decision to go with the veteran Warner. What does Matt Leinart have? We really don't know yet.

Cutler has no legs to stand on with his performances in Chicago, nearly throwing 30 interceptions and once again falling one win below a chance at .500, which has been the issue his whole college and pro career.
But McDaniels in Denver is an idiot and he deserves every bit of criticism he gets.
