it appears as though he tries to 'gouge' the other players eyes and has been suspended.
BUT FOR ONLY A HALF. discuss.

Saw that this morning, got to love it when coaches don't have the stones to bench them for a game.

Especially when they play my Vandy team this week. They could beat Vandy without replacing him and play with ten players.:sad

I've always thought that benching a player for a half or not giving them the start (and letting them in the game a few plays later) is just stupid. It doesn't prove anything to the player and it doesn't say anything other than "I didn't want to suspend but to try and appease some people, two people that will find this joke of a suspension acceptable, I will do it".
I have no real feelings on what he did though. Stuff like this happens 10 to 20 times a game and just isn't usually caught on tape.

That was pretty dirty but like the poster above said im sure things like that happend all the time. Im sure they step on each other, pinch, punch, all that good stuff. It happens in my high school games so i wouldnt be surprised if it did regularly in college...

wow im pretty impressed by this. I guess spikes has more cajones than his coach does.
Spikes takes himself out of Vandy game (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4623708)
"I really don't want to be a distraction to the team," Spikes said. "I want the guys to prepare without any negative things going on. I feel like if I would play, it would be a big thing. I'm just trying to stay out of the way and just motivate the guys. I'm pretty sure Stamper's my back and my teammates really support me on this decision."

Coach Kiffin gets his jab in. :thumbsup
"I did see the rerun," Kiffin said. "It was pretty bad but we'll worry about our team and what we can control. We've got a lot of work to do. Obviously, he'll discipline his team - or not - however he feels."
