View Full Version : Yeah I know...
.... its kinda of dumb to think about right now..... but with us being 3-6 are we really only 2 games back of a wild card?
As of right now the Steelers have the first one with a 6-3 record but hoping the Chargers lose to the Eagles that makes 3 teams with a 5-4 record. I know its almost pointless to think about right now but would that really only put us two games out of a tie for the last wildcard spot?????

its a really odd situation. we are still dead last in our division and we lost 6 games in our conference.
as much as id like to think playoffs...we still got two high powered passing offenses in our own division. Houston next week then also Indy.
i know our pass defense looked pretty good today at times, but Edwards is not Manning or Shaub.

I don't think a 10-6 team will be able to pull a wild card slot.

We will not finish 10-6 anyways.
It just seems like other then one division, the others have one way out front and the rest are close together.

I guarantee that a 10-6 team will be a wild card this season. Last year was a fluke with the Pats missing.

Pats were 11-5.
There were no 10-6 teams in the AFC last year.

Which had never happened before. A 10-6 team will be a wildcard this year. A 9-7 team is even possible.

Pitt or Cincy gets one spot. That leaves one spot open. We would need Denver to implode. That would leave Jax, Houston, Miami and the Jets left to fight it out. Our conference record still may do us in.
The odds of us running the table are astronomical, but since that is all we have what the hell.
I'm not sure we have the defense to play with the big boys but I will enjoy this mini ride until it is over.... Strange things are made to happen in the NFL.

i'd venture to say that Cincy will win that division.

Denver is heading towards an implosion with 3 losses in a row and Orton knocked out.
I would think that if we go 10-6 we have > 90% chance of making the playoffs.
Usually, 10-6 is good enough. Last year was very strange.

i dont know.
usually it is harder for an afc team but easier in the nfc.
there have been 9 - 7 nfc teams get the wild card.

assuming we go 10-6
Went ahead and added Pittsburgh to this list
currently 6-4 after this loss to KC
-BAL Twice: WL
-OAK: W
-@CLE: W
-GB: good chance of a W
-MIA: W
that puts them at 11 wins, but i could see them loosing one of their last two games but i could also see them pulling both at
lets go with 11-5
i honestly believe denver will fall apart and with orton possibly being out for a game or two (Simms finished off the game today) they will loose a few. san diego will win that division
they also have a tough schedule:
-San Diego: they have been playing well so I think this should be a win for them. L
-Giants: they will regain form and this should be a loss for the Broncos L
-KC: this should be a win for them but they did lose to Washington today so you never know W
-IND: L
-OAK: W
-Eagles: depends which Eagles team they get but I will predict an Eagles L
-KC:W
with that they will be 9-7
jets, they had a great start but since then have done nothing. sanchez was playing miraculous in the beginning but is no longer maintaining that playing level nor will he this year which is understandable.
-@NE: L
-CAR: which delomme will we get, i say carolina pulls it out L
-@Buff: tossup, buffalo during winter time for a rookie QB who is used to SoCal weather, ill give the Jets a win here though W
-@TB: rookie QB looks good for tampa but i say a Jets W
-ATL: falcons pull this one out L
-IND: definate L
-CIN: L
so that puts them at: 6-10
dolphins, are much better than there record shows, have had several games come down to the wire and are currently sitting at 5-5. note that henne is now starting so they could loose a few games that they should not just based on the fact that they are having an inexperience QB at the helm and there system is dependent on few turnovers.
-@BUF: a divisional game so it should be close either way and it is in buffalo. i think miami will pull this one out. W
-NE: NE will win this game. L
-@JAC: really hard game to predict, I will give them a win though. W
-@TEN: enough said, they lose. L
-HOU: i think houston will win this game. L
-PITT: i actually think miami will pull this game out W.
that puts them at 8-8
Ravens this year have been very inconsistent so it is hard to judge them. i think flacco is having a sophomore slump somewhat and there defense seems to be just a little bit slower due to age. currently sitting at 5-5
-PIT: they play them twice and i say they will split this series so W L
-@GB: tough game to call, cold temperatures probably by december, ravens have better running game so W
-DET: W
-CHI: W
that puts them at 9-7 you have to assume that they will split the series with PIT
Jaguars like they have been the past few years have been very incosistent, sometimes they come out to play and other times they never get off the bench. currently are 6-4
-@SF: another very tough team, its hard to predict but im going with another loss. they did have trouble beating KC you know so im going with an L.
-Hou: L
-MIA: i predicted a win for the dolphins earlier so L
-IND: indy should win this one L
-NE: easy L with what im watching right now with them dismanteling the colts d
-CLE: W
they will probably win one of their first three gams so even if i go with that they are 7-9
Houston is probably one of our toughest oppoonents for the wild card spot, they are currently 5-4 as well
-TEN: VY goes home and we pull out the win, they cant stop CJ L
-@JAC: i think they are a better team then JAC hands down W
-SEA: does seattle still have a time W
-STL: W, even though they make it close with the Saints today
-MIA: W, but oculd go either way
-NE: L
this puts them at 9-7 as well and they may have trouble with one of those other teams.
so obviously if we were to somehow win out we would have a shot

first of JimmyD i'd like to thank for you taking the time and effort to make that list.
but at the same time...its the NFL any given sunday
i bet you the jags, niners & even buffalo looked at our team as "easy w's"
anything can happen

The big trick is winning these next three games. The Titans are going against the #3, #5, and #1 passing offenses in those games.
The last three games were against the #16, #24, and #28 passing offenses.
If the Titans win all three (a big "if"), then the rest of the schedule looks quite managable. But winning these three will require the Titans to play at level even higher than they have been playing, especially on defense.

that jags game today hurt us but they still have a really tough schedule coming up
Today would have been great if Buffalo would have pulled out the win

The Steelers loss really helped. We also need the Jets to lose.
The tricky game is Chargers/Broncos. A Chargers loss helps us more, since the Titans play them later on. But if the Broncos are ready to collapse, a Chargers win helps as well.

The Broncos are on the verge of a collapse, and the Ravens and Steelers both choked one today despite the Bengals losing, which keeps both of them buried behind Cincy for the moment and competing for a wild card.
The Chargers are getting hot, and that Christmas game might be a doozy.
One thing's for sure. If we stay hot the next two weeks AND THEN find a way to beat Indy, you better look out. We're going to win 10 straight.
