Tennessee Titans fans would face a $3 ticket tax for the 2010 season under a proposal to help pay for looming fix-ups as LP Field ages.

Of course if passed, that tax would be in addition to whatever amount the Titans raise their ticket prices to.

This has been talked about for a few years now. As part of the original lease, a tax couldn't be added until 2010.

I really have no problem with it. It is better than increasing my property taxes in Davidson County. This tax would impact the people that use the stadium, which is the fair way of doing it.

As long as it goes toward stadium / Titans projects I have no issue with it. Where I have an issue is when they decide I need to pay toward schools etc in a place that I do not live.

There is already a seperate stadium repair budget that Metro puts a million dollars into every year. They used a big chunk of that putting in the new scoreboards. I feel very confident that any money gathered by this tax would go right into that budget and nothing else. They would be violating the law (or something like that) if they did anything else with it.

Well said. The tax burden should not be put on people that don't even use the stadium. Although I think Bud go do a little more after all he is the one selling the product.

I have never been a fan of cities paying to have stadiums built so some rich guy can benefit. I understand that there are benefits to Nashvilles local businesses and all, but I think owners should inveest more into their stadiums being that they are the primary users of the facility.

From my understanding, Bud does pay for the turf every year, which costs a decent amount. And TSU pretty much gets the stadium for free for football.

I agree 309. I wasn't complaining, just posting the info. If there has to be a tax, this really is the fairest way to do it.
