Readin' Climer's articel (http://www.tennessean.com/article/20091125/COLUMNIST0202/911250393/2072/SPORTS) (I still don't like him) today in the Tennessean, I found it interessting, what he wrote at the end of it....
"According to the Web site www.sportsclubstats.com , the Titans have a 69.5 percent likelihood of making the playoffs if they win out. Lose once and the number plummets to 8.6 percent. Lose twice and it's 0.1 percent."

69.5 % doesn't sound that bad.....

Before last Sunday's games, it was around 50%. Having all the AFC North teams and the Jets lose helped out.

If each game is a 50/50, then we have a 1 in 2*2*2*2*2*2 (1 in 64) chance of winning out.

was going to say this myself
probability and statistics ftw!!
Be optimistic! Several teams seem to be running out of steam while we are building up the pressure. As Kenny Schrader(for those who know of him) says, "This could be big"!

Funny you're mentioning Trotz....he just won with the PREDATORS against Avalanche (in Denver) in OT....That's 7 wins in a row now ....

Wonder what the odds of making the playoffs were when our record was 0-6? Nil, I would guess. So, we've come a long way baby, but we still have miles and miles to go. What's really aggravating is that we could win out, be on a 10 game streak, clearly be one of the hottest teams in the league and still have to go home. That would be a serious bummer. Ahhh, but its still fun to dream.

Frankly, I don't care about "playoffs" this season. I would much rather see "steady improvement" and consistency week to week with a "chance" to win every game and to "KEEP THE MOMENTUM INTO THE 2010 SEASON"!
If you are realistic, the 2008 team crashed and burned beginning with the Jets game last season losing 4 of the last 6 games including the playoff loss to the Ravens. That team was certainly not "improving" at the end of the season.

I have to be optimistic here. We have as good a chance of winning out as everyone else. Like TitansFan 370 I want this momentum to carry over into the 2010 season and the way our team has been playing lately anything is possible.

They did beat the eventual Super Bowl champions 31-14 in the last meaning NFL game of the regular season. It wasn't like they collapsed at the end of the year.

However, as I have heard about the Texans this week, The 2008 Titans did not "complete" the fouth quarter of last season. Our record was 2-2. Although the Colts game was meaningless, their backups beat our backups handily. Coaching is part of the game and our coaches definitely got "out coached" in the Colts game. Whether they crashed and burned or just did not "complete" the season, that is not how I want the 2009 Titans to end this season. I want to win out right into the beginning of 2010. I want to hear that my Titans are 11-0 since losing to New England after the first game next season.

Let me see here, a 69% chance? That sounds really promising.
Hmmm......
Why is it that I like that particular number so much? :whistling
