The Titans are discussing the possibility of a new contract for Chris Johnson, according to ESPN's Len Pasquarelli.
This would be the ultimate no-brainer extension. Johnson, arguably the best running back in the league, is set to make just $550,000 in 2010 per his rookie deal. The Titans would be well-served to lock him up to a big long-term deal now. He manages to avoid big hits and has proven to be very durable despite a 200-pound frame
This would be the intelligent thing to do, Lock him up now so he doesn't become another one that got away. :thumbsup

Pay him whatever he wants. We will not have another runningback like this fall in our lap nor will we see a RB like him in this league
for a LoooooonG time.

Because we would be broke? :lolhit After this year, it's probably smart, but huge contracts after a rookie season would be a recipe for financial ruin. Of course, if I knew anything about finance, I wouldn't be poor.:D

Concerning renegotiating CJ's contract:
General manager Mike Reinfeldt said the Titans haven’t even begun to ponder such things.
“He’s had a very special year,” Reinfeldt said. “But it’s also very rare that going into the third year people redo a deal.”

I don't care if it's rare for it to happen.... Lock up CJ now rather than later and trust me... you will save in the long run!
