Tag Keith B or not? Great time for a snap shot of the fans perspective.

neither, we are not going to use our franchise tag on him but i say that we need to keep him. there are some players on teams that contribute more than just what they do on the field. KB provides leadership to the D at levels we cannot measure.

No question what Keith means to this team.Depending on how his surgery goes,I still think he will come back strong.

As much as I like Keitheh I'd have to kill some people if we paid him $10 million for next season.

not worth the tag money. I would like to see him back because I think he is a good motivator / work ethic guy, but not for those $s.

I think it's possible we will tag him. I disagree that he's not worth it. The tag number would be roughly the same as a 3 year deal and with the labor uncertainty it would make sense to have him next year. With no salary cap the price tag doesn't bother me.

I hope not... that's a lot of money for 1 last year.

while our defense wasn't that good before he got hurt it completely tanked afterwards. When you compare it to what Vince is going to make then why not. If we are serious about contending for a SB next year it we should do it. Besides Bud can afford it. ;)

Neither, wait and see how the surgery goes, then work out a 2-3 yr final deal, and retire him a Titan. IMHO

Here's the problem.... he's got nearly a year before he's likely ready to play football, do you pay someone 8M+ to be rehabbing?

Agreed, you can't pay someone that much coming off a major injury this late in their career.
I would love to have KB back but he will not be back to form next year.

2-3 year deal and let him go out on his own terms, he deserves it after all he's done for us and as much as means to us. Probably not gonna happen though :(

Time for him to go.
He's not Ray Lewis. Solid pro, but never ever made enough of a difference that screams "this team is Keith Bulluck." Sorry, just not buying it.

This is the issue now-a-days...players fall into "how much money they are worth" category...instead of "how much you are worth". here is where the NFLPA has hurt this sport. IMO.

He will be available. No other team is going to touch an aging middle linebacker coming off knee surgery. Way too risky.
The injury comes at a very unfortunate time for Bulluck, and to that end I feel really bad for him. His dream of one more big contract was squashed on the field against Miami. Very unforgiving game is pro football.

It still blows my mind that the sport that cripples its own and has the shortest shelf life is the only one without guaranteed contracts. Still blows me away everytime I think about it.

When the concept of a franchise player initially emerged in the NFL, it was intended as a means to keep long-time stars with their teams deep into their careers.
Over the years, the concept has been corrupted. Now the franchise tag usually is applied to keep a player on site who otherwise would hit the free agent market.
This season, the Titans used the franchise tag on tight end Bo Scaife. A year ago, Albert Haynesworth was tagged.
I say it's time for the Titans to go old-school with the franchise tag. Assuming his knee surgery was deemed a success, why not designate linebacker Keith Bulluck as the franchise player for 2010?
This would keep Bulluck with the Titans for at least another season and perhaps clear the way for him to end his career with the team that drafted him in 2000.
Yes, there are roadblocks. Because of the high pay grade for top-tier linebackers, it would cost the Titas more than $8 million to franchise Bulluck next season. That's a bit hit financially.
But I would contend that Bulluck has been one of the top handful of linebackers in the NFL for the last several years -- albeit with a lack of national attention and acclaim. He has been consistently productive. The knee injury he suffered is the first significant injury of his 10-year NFL career.
About that injury: Barring an unexpected setback, Bulluck should make a complete recovery. Based on the way he approaches his business, his rehab work will be off the charts.
Granted, the Titans need to watch their step on defense. This season, they showed their age -- a bit too old in some spots, a bit too young in others.
But Bulluck is a pro. Those who watch him every day have not noted a dropoff in speed or performance. And he is a natural leader.
It's time to use the franchise tag on a franchise player.
I agree :)

There's no way in hell Bud Adams will pay a 33 year old LB coming off a major injury that much $$$.

This. and if he can prove himself (which i think he should have too to earn a new contract after the surgery) then we give him one.

It ain't happening.
They aren't going to put the franchise tag on KB.
I understand a LOT of people love Bulluck, but 8 mill for him at his age coming off a major ACL injury? Not a chance!

i think keith is aware his value isnt the same after the acl.
despite what his agent said.
the most recent qoutes seem to be directed more toward his wanting to come back here.

I say let him walk, his best days are behind him and after that ACL injury i think he will be average at best and might miss the first several games if he did come back. We need to replace him imo. we need a highly active LB thats all over the field like the Packers and Texans drafted last year.

Keep him and McGrath looks dam good to me Keglar didn't look awful. We Need CB, DE, DT. Going with McGrath, Tully, and Thorton NEXT year is akin to rebuilding.

id say sign him, but i think LB is something we should address in the 1st/3rd round of the draft.
McRath looks like he could be solid, but thornton is getting up there in age. So maybe this year is the year we should be looking to get some LBs for the future.
I like Tully he is young & has lots of potenial. But its still as big of concern to me as the secondary.

The dropoff between Keith Bulluck and Kegler or Allred is huge. I agree we'll likely draft an LB regardless of what we do about Keith.

That's an understatement. The song "Cliffs of Dover" comes to mind.

The thing that worries me most is the loss of Bulluck's leadership. Keith is really the only true leader we have right now and that should not be overlooked. Who else would reign in Finnegan when needed?
