Titans Coach Jeff Fisher on Monday left no secret about who his quarterback will be in 2010.

Vince Young did enough in his 10 starts to close out the ’09 season to prove he deserves the job, Fisher said.

“Vince will return as our starter next year,’’ Fisher said. “I won’t go into contract terms but he is going to return as our starter. I think the 8-2 (record) speaks for itself. He is 26-13 as a starter now and he came back this year after the bye and got under center and was a different quarterback, a different person.’’

This really isn't a surprise, but it is good for Fisher to make it clear.

Well it is nice of Fisher to say that and all, but shouldn't he leave it up to the coach of the Titans for the 2010 season? ;)

Not sure what VY's cap hit is for 2010, but IIRC it's bigtime. Guess we're now 100% committed to him and now he gets PAID.

Collins needs about a 3.5 million dollar pay cut..that would put him at 2.5 million. and allow us to roll that over to VY.

Isn't it like $14M or so?

His cap hit is zero. It is highly unlikely there will be a cap that year.

Now he will get paid a $4.25 million signing bonus and $7.5 in salary.

I hope they keep KC as the backup while they look to mentor a good rookie as well.

Coach Fisher also was asked if he would be the coach, and he said "Yes, you are stuck with me for at least two more years." And I am damn glad he is! But, someone here won't be haaaaaaapy! :lol

My stance on fisher is this. If he stays, good, we have had success with him. But if he's gone, then oh well maybe a new coach can give us a new mentality.

If I were Vince Young I would take a tire into my backyard and place it at different distances and different angles, some short and some long. I would throw the ball 100 times through each tire EVERY DAY all summer long. No days off!

Vince improved by leaps and bounds this year.............However, he has much room for improvement still to go. How good he becomes is up to Vince Young, I wonder if he is up to it. Time will tell.

If I were the coach, he would be attending summer school ALL summer long! Well, maybe a couple weeks off to play. But that's it!:D

Now we need to come up with some summer exercise for Nate Washington.

he says he going to work hard this offseason to continue to improve. i think he's committed to being a great QB. I always felt he had the skills just worried about his dedication. so it's good to hear and brings hope for the future.

Sect309, You would be the person i should ask about this... I keep hearing about this 14 million to VY this following season but isn't he under contract for 2 more years or 1 year and a option year? I could had sworn i seen his salary was half that for the last year, I could be wrong.

TTP77 has the details of the contract from year to year. It is one more year and an option year: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2531800

Young, the No. 3 overall pick out of Texas, agreed to a five-year deal, with an option for a sixth, with $25.7 million guaranteed and an overall value that could reach $58 million with option and roster bonuses and salary.

--------------------------------------------------

The $14 million would have been the cap hit if there is a cap in 2010, since that $25.7 million of guarenteed money is spread against the cap for 5 years.
