UT dismisses Tyler Smith

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl has dismissed Tyler Smith from the team following the arrest of Smith and three other players a week ago.

Smith, a senior guard/forward, and the others face misdemeanor drug, gun and alcohol charges.

Pearl announced his decision to dismiss Smith on Friday and said Melvin Goins, Cameron Tatum and Brian Williams remain on indefinite suspension.

I applaud Pearl for making this decision. I know it is tough, but it was needed. I am curious what will happen to the other three.

I'm shocked. I didn't expect this at all, even in Knoxville. It looks like it will be a 3-way race in the SEC East between UK, UT, and Vandy.
