The National Collegiate Athletic Association is expected to impose a three-year football probation on the University of Southern California that would include a two-year ban on bowl and television appearances, The Los Angeles Times reported in its Sunday issue.
The university's president, James Zumberge, has received a report from the N.C.A.A. Infractions Committee detailing what sanctions will be imposed as a result of its investigation of the Trojans' football program, the newspaper reported. It attributed the information to a ''reliable source.''
Athletic Director Dick Perry of U.S.C., confirmed that the N.C.A.A.'s letter had been received but said that university officials had not had time to thoroughly review the contents.

I don't mind the bowl ban but taking them off TV is a bit much IMO.

I remember in the early 90's when KY basketball was on probation and were banned from tv. Wonder what NBC would ever do if Notre Dame received a tv ban?

IDK if it's too much or not. given what we know about the reggie bush situation is it really? not that it was a surprise that they bought college players but that it was done so blatantly. The NCAA is under a lot of heat for being soft about rules violations so USC may be made an example to chill that perception.

Who better to absorb this punishment than Lane? At least he will keep it interesting while were on probation, then its back to kicking ass and hopefully we meet the Vols in a bowl game so we can smash the **** outta them.

I agree I said earlier to someone else that Lane will get you guys through the two year dead period and then he'll get the heat.

Well, at least if Orgeron takes his shirt off, no one will see it.

Yeah, go ahead recruits. Follow Lane to USC now. :lmao
I don't know if it's in the sanctions anywhere but the Trojans should also be forced to vacate any victories Bush played a part in and be stripped of their national title.

Why do you want USC to "smash the **** outta" the VOLS?

Because I think it would be hilarious with how badly Vol nation would like to beat us only to have us come up victorious.

Sorry speaking from one Vol fan I don't have that attitude toward USC. It's just another team out west to me. actually until Kiffin bolted there it was pretty much irrelevant in the larger scheme of things to me.

i think the ncaa is going to say it has been a pattern of institutional flaunting of the rules.
i sorta wonder if when the bush stuff happened the ncaa kinda warned them to clean up their act .
but when they didnt the ncaa was finally forced into acting .. something they seemed to have been running away from for years.

I know... the TV ban hurts the fans also. Hated it when Alabama got slapped with it years ago also.
