Kevin Stallings guided the Vanderbilt men's basketball team to its most successful SEC campaign in 17 years. His peers took note.

Stallings was named SEC coach of the year by the league's coaches for the second time in four years on Tuesday.

I really thought he blew it with the South Carolina loss, but I am very glad he got it. I do believe the main reason he got it over Calapari is that Vandy was predicted to finish 3rd or 4th in the SEC East, while Kentucky was predicted to win it all.

You left out that John Wall won SEC player of the year. As many double double's Cousin produced, I thought for sure he would have won the award. I'm thinking his attitude may have prevented him from getting it.

The AP voters will likely vote a little differently than the coaches. I wouldn't be surprised if Cousins wins player of the year and Calapari wins coach of the year in their votes. There will be a little less personal bias in those votes.
