no link but i just heard it on the local news its supposed to be changed to a 1pm start
The NFL has moved the time of the Jets' September 27 home game against the Titans from 4:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Jets received complaints about having home games on consecutive Jewish holidays. This change will allow fans to be back home before sundown on Yom Kippur.

Since it's the Day of Atonement, it would've been a perfect time to give their tix to Christians :p

ok....
look there is a difference between christmas and yom kippur which is considered a very serious day of reflection and attonement.
there a huge outcry when the tigers scheduled their season opener right through
what is considered the most sacred time of good friday.

pooks, though I threw a jab out there, expecting a certain individual to smack me for it (if they're ignoring it they totally succeeded shutting me down lol), I have to give props to the NFL for listening to their season ticket holders.

Everyone has a choice.
If this holiday is so important for the Jewish community, their choice should be an easy one. Observe Yom Kippur and don't worry about a football game; TiVo it.
Same thing for Muslims, Christians, Hindi's, Buddhists etc...
Separation of Church and the NFL.

Exactly!
Which is why it shouldn't be muddled up with the rest of em.
Now excuse me while I duck and hope to avoid being hit by lightning. :lol

understandable, but what they should have done was change locations! oh well, revenge will be sweet when we beat them at home!

I love Jewish holidays. Going to a high school with many Jews meant that we used to get those days off (Rosh Hoshanna (sp?) and Yom Kippur). While many of my friends had to go to the Synagogue and spend their day in religious mode, I stayed home and watched TV!

This move does set the rare Giants on FOX, Jets on CBS, 1 PM showdown in New York. Technically, it should never happen, since the other network isn't supposed to show another game vs. a local team's home game. But I guess they can make an exception in this case.

I've been on several sites where I've seen tons of "Jews showing they control everything" bull****.
The irony is that I never believed games should be scheduled on XMas. Is it too much to have one day of rest? The NBA started it by launching their national TV games on XMas - I disagreed with that too and I'm a Jew.
Double irony is that traffic is so bad leaving Giants Stadium that I bet any Jews that do attend will end up late for services anyways.
As a sidenote, I lost count how many times as a kid I tried to sneak a radio in during pennant races while in synagogue for the high holidays. I can also think of several MLB players that have taken the holiday seriously and refused to play. I hate synagogue with a passion, but there are two holidays I do go - Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Anyone who has a problem with this is what I call 'wild style' just plane weirded out. Jewish people need their holidays to. I'm not Jewish but people cant really have a problem with the switch.

Damn lunar calendar. I can never know when exactly my religious holidays will be so I can never bitch to the NFL about games affecting my life.

No one is taking away their holiday. We all have choices in this country and the NFL chose to listen to the Jets fan base. If they didn't, that fan base would still have their holiday and a choice to make.
Fisher said do it for our Christmas game. I suspect the last Christmas game, with it's full attendance, gave him reason to believe doing it again would be received well. If our fan base ever overwhelming raises a stink, I'm pretty sure Fisher will listen.

I sure didn't see a full attendance at that last Christmas game. It was sold out, obviously, but those December night games are only fun if the team is in the playoff hunt. That was one of the most miserable regular season games in my life.
If the Titans don't have at least 8 wins going into that game, I am not going. Not against another AFC West team. Not against a team that has our number.

Maybe I had too many shooters? :lol
Still, it had to be sizable otherwise I can't imagine Fisher and the FO taking that chance. Whatever our record is, I'm still going. It could be the last chance to tailgate for the season and my Christmas is pretty much done by early afternoon.
I wonder how the majority of players feel about holiday games?

The day the schedule was released Fisher was actually on tv saying he didn't like the idea of playing a Christmas game at home. He didn't like it because of the short week and that since they are at home there is a good chance that they will be up late the night before. I'm guessing it was Bud Adams that made this decision for financial reasons. I'm personally glad that we have a home game on Christmas day. Christmas is usually an extremely long and boring day that is only made better by the sports games (usually basketball) that are on. It's pretty much the only day throughout the year that I get to sit down and watch a sporting event with my dad now and we both love sports, so we look forward to the games.
