Sorry if you view this as the wrong place to have this, but if it is just move it please! As you can see the Jags near a deal for Holt, I was hoping we would get him, since I would rather sign him than draft a WR.

I would be happy with Nicks. DHB has bust written all over him. Im not saying Nicks won't be a bust, but Nicks is the better reciever. DHB is fast, but he has issues catching the ball.

Torry holt has 2 options at this point

1):bowdown

2):fail

If it's true, I hope Cortland shows him why it was a mistake on October 4th.

I'll be moderately dissappointed on this one. I normally don't get too worked up over UFA as I've seen how many championships the Redskins or Cowboys have in the last decade....

But I thought Holt was a good fit/need for us, and with the team clearly a contender now, don't mind throwing decent short-term $ here to get it done.

That said, I will laugh my brains out if he signs with the Jags after declaring his desire 'to play for a winner/contender.' He won't be kidding anyone. Just man up and admit you got mouths to feed.

Jags haven't. Doesn't mean they won't.

They could be better in a place like LA. :)

unless Kobe Bryant and Andrew bynum are gonna suit up they will still suck

This makes me wonder how much of a competitive edge Holt still has. Yea, maybe the Jags offered more money but maybe also he wants to go where he's assured of lesser competition for the ball on his own team. If that's the case then is this really a guy we want to help take us to the playoffs or possible the Superbowl? I think not.

one of the more interesting theories i saw on titans central is that holt has his ring and is now more interested in padding his stats.
that he was wanting to a chance to be a starting wr for not just one but two or more seasons.

the primary at that.

perhaps the jags got desparate enough to do it.

As long as he is getting stats he can pad them all he wants in two tone blue.:D

Titans will consitently win just enough to get into the playoffs every few years. jags wont settle for slightly above mediocrity as perrenial status quo quite so readily

There, fixed that for you.

I'd over pay for Bolden anyday over Holt.

With as much time as the Jags QB spends on his butt the only stat Holt is likely to make there is number of times he heard his QB ask "Who just hit me?"

My off season philosophy in 2009 is the "let the Titans do what they do" without judging since I so underrated the Titan front office in 2008. While I would like a Holt or other "big name receiver", I am happy the Titans are not over paying in light of hopefully needing to resign Bulluck, Vanden Bosch and other beyond 2009.

There, fixed that for you.

We have been to the playoffs as much or more than any team but the Colts and Eagles in the last 10 years. "Every few years" my ass. :crazy

Peter King's take....

I think -- no, I know -- that Tennessee is not out of the Torry Holt derby.

You think whoever he would sign with it will be before draft day right? Surely the value a team places on him could be diminished some if they feel like they picked up a starter in the draft and this seems like a pretty deep WR class this year.

Yea, I think Holt's best bet would be to sign before the draft. Time's running out if he wants to get a deal done before then.

High-profile free agent receivers don't want to come to Tennessee anymore. The old school style of offense doesn't allow them to pad their statistics, so they'd rather rack up impressive numbers. This way they can get their incentive bonuses, and many times get a jump start on the offseason when their team misses the playoffs. :whistling

I'm not to stressed either way. Holt is in no way an elite player right now. Would I welcome his as another option? sure....but I don't think he's any better than Gage or Washington right now. If getting him prevents us from addressing the future of the position in the draft....than i say let him see tarp!!

The Jacksonville Jaguars made headway toward filling their void at wide receiver on Monday by signing veteran free-agent Torry Holt to a three-year deal that includes $4 million in guarantees and could be worth up to $20 million.

Holt, 32, was released by the St. Louis Rams — the only team he’s played for — in March in a cost cutting move that accompanied a shift toward younger players. Holt was also courted by Tennessee and drew interest elsewhere, but he opted for Jacksonville, which could be beneficial to both parties.

Bummer, I liked the idea of signing Holt and not trading picks. Oh, well nothing can kill my elation of finding this board!! :D

Obscure reference coming up for the singing Holt..."I like to sing-a about the moon-a and the June-a and the spring-a, I love to sing-a, About a sky of blue-a, or a tea for two-a, Anything-a with a swing-a to an "I love you-a," I love to, I love to sing!!!" :whistling
