The draft is now less than a week away. I am stoked to find out who I am going to be pissed off about us drafting, so that I can later rejoice and say what a great pick it is. I hope Alphonso Smith falls to us. Post your opinions on who you would like to see us get (not necessarily who you think we will pick).

that post was awesome...the difference i have is i will never be pissed about another first round pick after what happened last year (at least until they start showing VY/PAC similarities)

Yep can't wait! I hope we land an immediate impacting offensive threat (WR TE). It would be nice to start slaughtering opponents instead of squeeking by them.

hey now i know we had our share of close ones but 9 double digit wins aint bad...especially when you count...The Super Bowl Champs, Peyton Manning, Division rivals Jax and Houston, Adrian Peterson, granted Detroit and Cincy are on the list...but considering we lost like 35-3 to them last year i will say improvement :p

IDK who we should select in the first. It really all depends on who's there. So many pretty good players may fall to us. I think I might actually prefer Darius Butler over Smith but I wouldn't complain if we drafted him. LOL, the draft to me is better than Christmas. I agree with PBV in that I'd like to see us draft an impact offensive player in the early rounds.

I agree. It would be nice to draft a player that would make an immediate impact on offense, but TEs and WRs or tuff to judge. It is easier to get an impact player of defense than offense in my opinion. After watching all the recievers drop last year it would be nice if Maclin fell to us.

I like Victor "Macho" Harris. If we can get him on our squad, I would be pleased.

Put him on the short side of the field and watch the hits .. he is an EXCELLENT run support CB. His pass coverage rocks too. His speed WAS an issue .. until he ran a 4.46 on his pro day. The kid is a playa .

I'm really high on Macho Harris as well. IDK if he'd be there in the 2nd if we waited though and round one seems a bit high to draft him.

We don't seem to have a problem reaching, lol. You could say the same thing about Jason Jones and he turned out pretty well also. :)

i am getting more and more anxious. I cannot wait... not only for the titans but, for trades and picks by other teams. Im looking forward to this draft more than any I can remember. There are alot of picks that would add excitement to the offseason for me regardless of round...

Darrius Heyward-Bey, Percy Harvin, Alphonso Smith, Ramses Barden, Vontae Davis, Demetrius Byrd, Javon Ringer, Sen'Derrick Marks, Shawn Nelson, Deon Butler would all be fun to watch develop

For the first time in a few years, I'm completely clueless as to what direction we're going to go with our pick.

The one nice thing is that, by picking 30th, anyone we draft in the first round doesn't necessarily have to come in and play right away. Add in the fact that a #30 pick doesn't make near as much money as even a #10 pick, so even if someone we pick basically sits a year or two, learning the ropes along the way, it's not like we're out a tremendous amount of money.

We need to pick around #30 every year, although I'd prefer #32 for the 2010 draft... ;)

Anybody think we will draft a punter in the later rounds? Punters are kind of boring and I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the prospects, but I am assuming this will be Craigs last year. It seems like he has really struggled with injuries the past few years.

Maybe pick up an undrafted punter? How often do punters get drafted? But yah id like to see a young punter come in as well.

I actually saw a mock with us taking one in either the 5th or 6th round. I can't remember which it was. Thoughs mocks are never right even for teh first round. I can't believe someone would bother to take on out to the seventh round. I would be surprised if they got any picks right after the second.

How about a 2nd round WR ...

Mohamed Massaquoi (WR) Outta Georgia. This kid reminds me of a :whistling Hines Ward. :hide The kids fast, big and likes contact. He's a good blocking WR too which we covet.

i think theres a good chance of him or demetrius byrd in a later round. We brought both of them in for workouts. (although demetrius was in a car accident so we will have to wait and see if he sustained any injuries)

Massaquoi would be a great pick up. I watched him play several times this year and he's a player.

The Titans could take a punter, but my guess is they'll go for one in FA if they want to add one.

Of course we all know how this is going to go down...

1st round we'll take someone really off the wall that will make us all go WTF?

2nd round is usually the directional school round. We'll get someone (probably a DL) from some small school with a north, east, south, or west in front of it.

3rd round they'll choose someone whose teammate was highly coveted.

4th round they'll pick a WR with the first pick who will send everyone scrambling to YouTube to find some highlights. There will be multiple threads dissecting the highlights. Some won't be able to wait to see the guy play and will post multiple threads throughout the season about "Why isn't ____ on the field more?" This will be fueled by the Titans praising this player as a real steal.

The second 4th rounder will be a defensive player no one has heard of and a name no one can spell.

The fifth rounder will be traded for a veteran special teams player. There will be a two page story in the Tennessean the next day analyzing the move and each of the guy's 13 tackles last year. Two solo.

From there, the Titans will go back to players no one has heard of for the two sixth round picks. Probably from directional schools or a school with "State" or "Tech" behind it's state name.

The last two picks are reserved for players from schools so tiny no one will know they have a football team.... say like St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. And swear he's a stud receiver. Funny thing is that he'll outproduce most of our current ones.

The last seventh rounder will be a developmental QB out of Nashville Diesel College.

Just kidding of course. I'm looking forward to the draft.

It was definitely tongue-in-cheek but there's some seriousness to it as well. The Titans never fail to make those WTF moves. Sometimes they work out well. Other times they don't.

any draft predictions?

1.How many players that the titans draft will have dreadlocks?
2. How many will be from small schools?
3. How many WRs?
4. How many draft picks from the titans will be from the Longhorns?
5. (probably the toughest) How many of our draft picks will start at least 8 games in 2009?

I have no idea who we will draft but if I were playing GM here’s some players I would show strong interest in.

QB - Josh Freeman, Kansas State. I honestly didn’t give this guy much notice until we brought him in. So I started looking at him and I like what I see. I doubt he makes it past the Bucs, but if he’s there at #30 I think it will present a true dilemma for our FO. I love this kid. Smart, extremely coachable, great intangibles, rocket arm. Needs to sit a year or two. I think he has the most upside of any quarterback in the draft. Please don’t call me a hater, lol. I understand we still have Vince under contract but it seems inevitable that he will be released next year, so why wait to draft our future QB? In fact if we do wait we’re possibly shooting ourselves in the foot. I don’t think the Titans could afford to pass on this guy in the first round. I think he’d be perfect in our system after he gets some time to watch and learn.

RB – Rashad Jennings, Liberty. A guy who could replace Lendale and be a true bruiser. A steal in the third.

WR – Hakeem Nicks, Juaquin Iglesias, Ramses Barden, and Johnny Knox.

TE – Shawn Nelson, Dan Gronkowski, Jared Bronson, and Zach Miller

OT – Robert Brewster and Joel Bell
• I picked these guys mostly for depth and development. Could be good role/complimentary players

OG – T.J. Lang, Roger Allen and Brandon Walker
• Depth and development. Could be good role/complimentary players

CB - Darius Butler, Macho Harris, Jarius Byrd, Mike Mickens, and Lardarius Webb (another sleeper who's rising on boards)

S – Chip Vaughn and Courtney Greene
• Depth and development. Could be good role/complimentary players

OLB's - Clay Matthews, Tyrone McKenzie, Jason Williams, Lee Robinson, and DeAndre Levy (Obviously some of the more recognized names will likely be gone)

ILB’s – Jason Phillips and Josh Mauga (I think the better prospects will be gone and we devalue the spot in our system somewhat)

DT – Ron Brace, Ziggy Hood, Jarron Gilbert, Sen'Derrick Marks, and Sammie Lee Hill

DE – Sidbery, David Veikune, and Henry Melton
• Depth and development. Could be good role/complimentary players

I was thinking earlier of Anquan Boldin, on NCAA 09 when i was on my Dyn, the ESPN radio said titans and cardinals were in talks of a 2nd and a player for Anquan, AND i believe i heard Cardinals were allowing titans to talk to Anquan's Agent.
If that player was say.. Lendale as we've heard, i wouldnt mind getting Shonn Greene with the 1st if Knowshon Moreno isnt there
