It's all over the radio (104.5 the zone) that the board of regents at Nebraska have meet and have given the ok to move to the Big 10.
The mad shuffle is about to begin!!!
Hope Texas and Oklahoma ends up in the SEC, forget the rest of the teams.

Texas and Oklahoma wont go to the SEC. The reason the PAC10 offer works for them so well is because it brings along a number of their other rivalries by bringing those schools in too.

I agree even more that it'll be easier for them to go west to the Pac 10 and have a shot at winning a National Champioship vs coming to the SEC and having to fight every weekend.

Yes, their inability to beat the great SEC schools will play a huge factor in their decision.
All hail the SEC!

To save face and not messup the whole landscape of how we know the NCAA. I hope it's just Nebraska to the Big 10 and Notre Dame joins along with them. Then have the Big 12 add another team.

Mizzou was offered a spot as well and they'll be taking it.
Breaking news out of Texas is that Texas has told its coaches that the 6 schools from the Big12 will join the Pac10 in 2012.

Texas and Texas A&M are meeting tomorrow. Looks like Texas is trying to make sure that Texas and Texas A&M stay together and go to the PAC10 together.

My SEC wish list...
1.Texas
2.Oklahoma
3.Florida State
4.Virginia Tech
5.West Virgina
6.Miami
7.Clemson
8.Georgia Tech
Here's a funny , why not just invite Notre Dame to join the SEC and flip out everyone.

If Notre Dame joins any conference it will be the Big10. Geographically the SEC makes no sense to them and Notre Dame makes no sense to the SEC.

Texas A&M is reported really wanting to join the SEC .
But the expense of travel is going to go sky high if these Big 12 teams join the PAC 10....CRAZY TRAVEL!!!

Apparently the governor of Texas and a number of the major football personalities in that state are doing everything they can to make sure Texas A&M goes where Texas goes.
The travel expenses probably wont go up much either. You gotta realize that all the schools coming from the Big12 to the PAC10 are going to be thrown into the same conference so a majority of their games will still be in the same region. The other 2 schools rumored to be placed in that division are the Arizona schools.
For the smaller sports they will most likely go to a "pod system" where a number of events will take place in the same area at one time. It's basically what the NCAA does with the March Madness tournament but on a much smaller scale.

With the rumored divisions Texas would only have to travel to the west coast twice a year. If Notre Dame joined the SEC it would involve closer to 5 games a year where they would have to travel to the southeast. Those games combined with USC and Navy would be way too much traveling for it to make sense. Notre Dame is right in the heart of Big10 country. Them and their fans don't have to travel far for those games.

I still think the SEC getting GT, FSU, Miami, and Clemson would be a better move. for the SEC

The reason Nebraska went to the Big 10 probably has more to do with the TV deals than anything. The Big 10 just started its own network, Big 10 tv and that increases the visibility of the team and the conference. The Big 12 really didn't do much for the conference in that sense and that's why now we're seein all these teams willing to leave.
On the same note Texas would be a helluva lot smarter to join the SEC for that same reason. The contracts with CBS and ESPN give the SEC great coverage on a national base and having them would only increase the coverage of the conference. It has nothing to do with how good they think they're chances of getting to a national championship in the SEC are over the PAC-10, its all about money and coverage. Besides which, Texas is a top program and should feel like they can play anyone and win.

"It would take a week to 10 days to finalize the details of a Pac-16. The blockbuster deal would add the nation's No. 5 (Dallas), No. 10 (Houston) and No. 16 (Denver) TV markets to the conference, which already includes No. 2 Los Angeles, No. 6 San Francisco, No. 12 Phoenix and No. 13 Seattle.
With that large population base, the new conference would start its own network and, along with other broadcast partners, likely would distribute around $20 million per member, comparable broadcast revenue to the Big Ten ($22 million) and SEC ($17 million), the source said."

Besides, Notre Dame would just be another bottom feeder in the SEC (think Ole Miss or Mississippi State). They simply know better.
For that matter, they should know better than to join the Big 10 as well. They'd be right down there with Northwestern, Indiana, and Illinois. And yes, I realize those schools have posted some decent seasons in the last few years but as a general rule they're not Ohio State or Michigan. I just don't believe Notre Dame could compete well in a major conference and they know it. Besides they already have the sweetest deal in college football. (Great tv contract and requiring a mere 6 wins to appear in a BCS game). Why mess with that?

When Nebraska joins the Big 10, Texas will be unable to hold the Big 12 together and it will collapse. I'm sorry that this is going to happen. Coach Osborne, our AD, is behind this move and In Tom We Trust.

So at about 3 today, Nebraska regents approved permision to seek a bid to join the big 10.
Just now, the big 10 unanimously voted yes to allow nebraska to join...also stating this is their last year in the Big12.
Nebraska is a full fledged member starting July 2011.

This time last last week, Nebraska's 2011-2012 football schedule was set. Right now,the only games that remain are those against Fresno State, Washington and Wyoming.:ohmy
For years and years, I've looked forward to the Nebraska Colorado game on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Not after this year.:(

I expect to see Fresno State and Wyoming to be replaced with an Oklahoma, Mizzou, or Kansas. That way they can keep some tradition...

Hopefully some tradition will survive but with the Pac-10's plans to expand to 16 teams it doesn't leave much room for Oklahoma to schedule them.

That makes sense for Texas as they have wanted to create their own network (more money just for them) but I can still see Texas A&M going to the SEC and if that happens the mass exodus will still probably happen.
Can A&M risk passing up the SEC when the Big 12 is on shaky grounds?

What surprises me the most was that I was always led to believe that Texas and Texas A&M were a package deal. Now it sounds like they could be split, with Texas A&M to the SEC.

SEC gets to dig into Texas recruiting now.
I believe TAMU will be a good addition. It opens up the SEC to the Texas market even more and it will give Arkansas a good rival.
Even though Texas threatened to stop playing A&M if they didn't follow, I don't see that happening. That game will be even bigger now. SEC vs PAC 16.
Now they need to get into the DC market.
Although, it'll be difficult to pry VT away from the ACC.

Round and round we go.
The Texas Longhorns, based on a TV deal in the works that could pay them upwards of $25 million per year, are leaning toward staying in a 10-team Big 12 for the foreseeable future, Orangebloods.com has reported, citing sources familiar with negotiations.

Texas, OU, Texas Tech and Texas A&M are staying in the Big 12.
Pac 10 gets Colorado, and will probably have to take Utah now.
IMO, this strengthens the SEC even more. Colorado and Utah don't do anything to make the Pac 10 stronger.
The Big 12 are now down to 10 teams; guess that means no Big 12 championship game.
The Big 10 still won't be as strong as the SEC either.

The Big 12 could always get TCU and someone else to get to 12 again. But I am thrilled that the SEC isn't expanding and that the extent of these changes have been very limited so far.
ZachLV27

I don't see the Big 12 going after any other schools. To do that it would mean that their tv deal would be shared amongst two more schools which would cost Texas and the other schools around $4 to $5 mil annually.
If they did get TCU to join it would screw over Boise State which I'm not a fan of. Utah is already probably on their way to the PAC 10/12. If TCU went to the Big 12 then the MWC would lose the 2 biggest reasons for BSU joining them in the first place.

But won't the Big 12 lose a lot of money not having a Big 12 Championship game? They can't have one with just 10 teams.

Most reports I have read have said that the SEC Championship game is the only one that really brings in a lot of money.
I'm pretty sure only a Big 10 Championship Game can compete (or surpass) the SEC when it comes to that. Those are the two conferences that have wide spread fan bases. The rest of the fan bases are more regional.
