Is Tony Gonzalez the “Kevin Garnett” of the NFL? He does play basketball when away from football. The two players are Hall of Famers in their respected sports. Easily both guys can be tagged the best player of their position in each league, and even better are both 33 years old. The similarities are surprising. Does Tony need to leave Kansas City the way Garnett left small market Minnesota? Both of them are first round picks that had solid first years as pros. Plenty of All-Star games between the two of them. Each guy weights in at 252, and we know both go over the 6’5” in height. Really the only immediate difference from the obvious skin color difference is the ring. Where’s Gonzalez’s ring? By now several records later at Tight End one might think Tony G had a ring, but nope. Playing in Kansas City is hard. Very little support from the other cast of Chiefs, and an even worse coach. I say the Chiefs need to do the man a favor and cut ties with him. Let him go somewhere he will get a chance to compete. Gonzalez is plenty anxious to leave KC, as most current players there are (Larry Johnson, Brian Waters). I like Tony Gonzalez enough to even have our Titans make an offer. We know Bo Scaife, and Alge Crumpler may not be answers after next season so how about trading for Tony Gonzalez. The Titans sure do love their TE's. Now with no better offensive fire power than in January, and no Tory Holt or any other big time wide out, will venturing into Tennessee waters be a possible option for Tony G? It worked out for Kevin Garnett and the competitive Celtics who were one player away, so who could help put the Titans over the top? After all KC did just add TE Sean Ryan so maybe theyre ready to move Tony. Your Thoughts……

I could see a draft day trade for him but not from us. What would we give up? A later pick and how many others to go with it? We need our picks, we have holes to fill.

*edit*

moved your thread since he's with one of those other 31 teams...

We really don't need 10 picks. And we really don't have a lot of holes to fill. We need help at linebacker, corner, and receiver, which isn't a whole lot, so there are trade possibilities.

An old TE that is breaking down is probably the last thing we need. Sure, he'd be better than Crumpler, but we honestly don't need Crumpler all that much.

Basically, trading anything for another TE is a waste of whatever we trade.

The Chiefs are my second favorite team. I would have loved to seen Tony Gonzalez get traded to Philadelphia last season, but it didn't happen. He deserves a chance to get a ring, he's been a loyal player and it's the right thing to do.

I would like to see Larry Johnson traded only because he is becoming more trouble than he is worth keeping. The Chiefs need to rebuild, and it would be nice if his attitude was in another uniform.

Do you really think the Chiefs would accept late round picks for Tony? I don't.

Third-fourth round is the lowest I could see the Chiefs accepting.

And I don't think we can afford to give up a 3-4 round pick, unless we're trading for the first round and a stud something-or-another.

Agreed.
