pooks can't post from work and she sent this to me. Don't know if it's already been posted, either.

As the Ravens prepare to make their first-round pick Saturday, they will be evaluating character as much as speed, agility and toughness. It's their job to determine whether a player's past will derail his future.

A handful of players with issues - Pettigrew, Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis, Southern California linebacker Rey Maualuga and Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin - have been linked to the Ravens' 26th overall pick.

The rest (http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/football/bal-sp.character21apr21,0,4561387.story)
The Cowboys took Harvin off their board but will Al Davis? :lol

Seriously, reading stuff like this makes me wince. It was painful watching Pacman implode and he wasn't the first, won't be the last.

I think more teams are going to be careful about these issues. They have to be. Not only do you lose investment and value when character issues cause problems but teams are going to start being penalized for drafting these guys.

I didn't know about Rey Maualuga having problems off field. I heard that he can be overly aggressive on the field and miss tackles, nothing about his character. He seems like a Polamalu, probably because of the Samoan link...
