I've been waiting since 2002 for this. Austin Peay beat Vandy in baseball last night 9-8. Very ugly game from both teams. 3 errors by the Dores and 4 from the Govs. Vandy ought to be embarrased to be honest losing to the 8th place team from the OVC that had 4 errors. No reason for them to lose that game.

Ryne Mantooth slowed the flood gates and Austin Peay found its stroke in a 9-8 win over Vanderbilt at Raymond C. Hand Park.
The Govs (16-21) looked like they were in for a long night when the Commodores jumped out to a 5-1 lead with two outs in the second.
But Mantooth stopped the bleeding by retiring 10 of the 14 batters he faced, and after he struck out the final batter in the top of the fifth, APSU had gotten things together and led 7-5.
Mantooth (2-4) was aided by the Govs scoring two in the third on Trey Lucas' homer, three in the fourth, and one in the fifth to give him the lead and the eventual win.
"I just tried to pitch to contact. I tried to get back to that," Mantooth said. "I just tried to keep us there to give us a chance to win. You never know what can happen in college baseball."
Vandy (23-16) added single runs in the sixth and the eighth, sandwiched around two APSU runs in the seventh.
The Commodores made things interesting by scoring one in the top of the ninth with two outs.
Austin Peay's Daniel Tenholder got Curt Casali to strike out looking to end the game and earn his sixth save.
Ricky Marshall was charged with two unearned runs in 2.1 innings, Tenholder was saddled with the unearned run in the ninth.
Jeremy Dobbs got the start.
"We made a lot of mistakes and they really could have had only one run if we make all our plays," APSU coach Gary McClure said of the Govs' four errors. "The moral of this story for us is we survived and we didn't fold. We didn't give up and we didn't quit."
Vandy got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first.
The Govs came back with one run in the bottom of the first to make it 2-1. Greg Bachman's singled brought home Adam Browett from third.
The Commodores added three more in the top of the second to take a 5-1 lead. The runs came on a bases-loaded walk and a two-RBI single.
Lucas smacked his two-run shot to center in the third to make it 5-3.
The Govs took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs. Jared DeLong scored from third on a fielder's choice, Jon Clinard crossed home on a error by Vandy shortstop Brian Harris, and Browett came home when the Commodores couldn't turn a double play with two outs.
Vanderbilt made it 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth when Michael Blanchard scored from third on a wild pitch.
Vandy closed the lead to 7-6 in the top of the sixth when Steven Liddle scored from third on a throwing error by Lucas.
APSU extended its lead to 9-6 with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Chris Lewellyn scored from third on an error by Vandy third baseman Jason Esposito, and Clinard made it the two-run lead when he scored from third on a fielder's choice.
Vandy cut it to 9-7 with a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Casali, and added one more in the top of the ninth to make it the final.
NOTES: The Govs broke a 12-game losing streak to Vandy; APSU's last win was May 1, 2002 ... It's the Govs' second win against a SEC team this year, APSU beat Tennessee 5-3 on Feb. 24. ... The Govs are 2-3 against the SEC.
