Yea I was saying the same thing about the CJ contract dispute in May. Here he is complaining about his contract (and he did deserve to get paid based on last year's performance) but he never looked around at people struggling in this economy or looked at the concentration of his fan base in Nashville and struggles that they were enduring at that time.

At least Derrick Morgan got off light buying iPads.

$55,000 :jawdrop

I am all for team-building, but that is a heck of a lot of money, even for a highly-paid rookie like Bryant. I could something in the $5000 and under range (your typical NFL fine), but this is crazy.

I can see him getting taken out to dinner quite a bit over his duration with the Cowboys. He'll get his money back one way or another.

I like Roy Williams and all, but that's just ridiculous. He's a rookie, a young kid, you don't know what he's doing with his money, and they have no right to jack him up like that.

$54,896/$8,300,000 = 0.006613976

So, if someone who earns $45,000 per year spent the same percentage of their overall gross income, that would be 0.006613976*$45,000 = $297.63 for dinner.

In the grand overall scheme of things regarding Bryant's wallet, it's not that bad, but that $$$ could have been put to better use.

Like booze and hookers.

Carry those shoulder pads and helmets with pride. Bring the morning donuts, and get the veterans their fried chicken when requested. It's much cheaper than the Dez Bryant Special.

You're blaming Roy Williams for the other players taking unopened bottles of wine home and spending a fortune ordering everything they could on the menu? He did invite the guys but every single one of those players knew exactly what they were doing and who was paying for it.

That's still a lot! We, a family of four, don't spend that much for a month's groceries.

Bryant took the offensive players out, Roy Williams took it upon himself to invite defensive players as well, so yes, i blame Roy Williams.

Yes but all those players knew what was going on. It's not as if they thought Williams was going to pay for it.

Williams inviting the defense is hilarious and a good bit of "payback" to the rookie. I doubt he thought the bill would be anywhere near that high though.

Either way I don't think this is much of a story (and I don't think anyone here has made a big deal about it). Bryant's advisor was laughing about this when asked and I bet Bryant found it to be a bit funny. I also think the team (including Bryant) know that over time they will pay him back one way or another. The restaraunt itself will probably be very nice to him whenever he goes there again.

That would be over 5,000 $10 hookers. :ohmy Or 500 $100 ones. I don't really know the price range-mine costs more than that, I'm married. :):thumbsup (33 years today)

This is why i love Guys like Rennie Curran(uh oh i mentioned Kims boy lol). What was his BIG PURCHASE? A Dodge Charger. Everything else went to his family. That's what you make it to the NFL for. Even VY is smart with his money. Getting hot dogs and record labels. Setting himself up for life after football. Guys like Roy williams will be sorry when they retire.

The problem I have with stories like this is how inappropriate they are in today's economy when record numbers of people are losing their jobs, transportation, and homes. What was a great joke for these guys could have changed alot of people's lives.

Its not like he would have donated the money had he not got stuck with the tab.

The general public is never going to be as well off as NFL players.

The games people play in the middle of the night... Where do we go from here now that all of the children have grown up? And how do we spend our time, knowing nobody gives us a damn?

The problem being with the story in my opinion isn't the difference between us or them in terms of money, it's because of a total dick move on Williams part. He knew what he was doing.
