What is with that organization? There greatest WR of all time was caught with crack! I know everyone jokes about them moving to LA, but that could be a tragedy for this franchise. I can see it now. They will be selling crack pipes at all the souvenir stands.

Sadly, it is another former athlete who can't handle life when the cheering stops. Jimmy Smith was a very good receiver, and even though he played for one of the Titans biggest rivals, I hope that he gets the help he needs. I don't want him to wind up like Dwight Gooden or Darryl Strawberry.

Jimmy Smith was a coke-head when he played.

There's nothing new going on here.

The way things are going in Jackoffsville, the Jags may have to part ways with some of their tarps so their former players can have somewhere to call home.

I remember a few years ago when McNair got busted for DUI/DWI, their fans were all over the TOMB just going on about our team full of criminals.... blah blah blah.

I guess it's true about karma. At least in this case.

yep he got busted twice while he was playing.
the first time the cops decided not to charge him but the nfl thought it was enough to put him into the program.

Pulled over for EXCESSIVE window tinting ? What a BS traffic stop. I wonder if the cop was "profiling". As far as Smith is concerned, he obviously needs help.....

He's had help, knows where to find it, and has to want it. What he needs is a desire to stay clean. Sadly, time in jail just might do the trick.

If the window tint was excessive, how could he be profiling?

The cop probably couldn't see the color of his skin.

They pull white people over for excessive window tint too. I've seen it many times, but none of the people I've known that got pulled over for excessive window tint had crack on them.

I'm not justifying the seriousness of his crimes. Perhaps I'M guilty of profiling ??? I'd like to see an image of the vehicle. It's still a chicken s*** traffic stop.

No, in some states the amount of window tinting allowed is regulated by law. In the state of Virginia a state trooper was shot during a routine traffic stop when he got to the window of a car. The driver had a gun on him the entire time. The cop didn't even know the guy had a gun. Other states have similar laws. A lot of times if they pull over someone from out of state with excessive tint they will wait in their cars until other units arrive. They will surround the car with guns drawn as a precaution.

Tennessee has one of these laws. It only applies to the front windows. I don't think any one is going to draw a gun for to much window tint, but it isn't unreasonable to order the driver and passengers out of the vehicle. Traffic stops aren't fun and when you can't see it becomes a very dangerous situation for law enforcement and subjects in the vehicle.

We have the same laws in place, here in Texas. I understand that the law is to protect police officers and for them to be able to see who(m) is driving the car and how they are behaving. Here's my politically incorrect point. You don't see too many middle aged, white, guys tooling around in a Mercedes CLS 600 with "spinners" and the windows deeply tinted. You DO see younger drivers , of all races , with their cars pimped out. However, most of the kids aren't driving a 90-110 thousand dollar car...AGAIN, I am NOT defending J.S. .
