Here is my summary of the ruling from the article:
1. A TD was called (erronously)
2. Because it was called, any ruling on the field concerning the fumble was disregarded. The play was dead.
3. Video review ruled it wasn't a TD.
4. Video review then had to determine possession of the fumble. There was no clear review showing which team recovered, therefore it went to the offense.
The main mistake was the TD call. If that had not been called, then the officials on the field would have had to make a ruling on the fumble recovery.

The video is clear that the Dolphins had the ball. If the refs watched the same video we did it was clear that the dolphins has possession of the ball.

Was the video clear that a Dolphins player fell on the ball and had possession of it at the bottom of the pile? That is what matters, not who stood up with the ball at the end.

It looks pretty clear to me that there are 4 Dolphin players on the ball.

The ONLY thing that matters is who stood up with the ball at the end!!!!! Who cares what happens at the bottom of the pile?

I think the NFL knows the officials screwed up, but they won't own up to it. Does anyone else find it peculiar that they keep showing the same replay segment? The replays showing the fumble, but we know the ball was fumbled why don't show an extended replay of what happened after the fumble. Because they don't want to own up to its mistakes.

There is NO explanation other than incompetence of biblical proportion to rationalize what happened in that game. Stevie Wonder said the Dolphins recovered the football.
Who cares what happens at the bottom of the pile?
Uhhhh... maybe the guy who is getting his nutsac twisted.

After looking at all those replays, I still don't see any replay angle showing who had the ball at the bottom of the pile.

That just goes on to what I was saying. They are not showing us the replays that would determine this, because they knew the officials fudged up the call. In one of the replays you clearly see 4 Dolphins jump on the ball before a Steeler jumps on them. That paired with a dolphin coming up with the ball and we have a genuine screwjob courtesy of a Steeler loving Zebra.

Your tinfoil hat is on a bit tight.
The NFL has had no problem saying when they've screwed up in the past. Why exactly would they go through some giant cover-up on a play like this where everyone knows the Dolphins got screwed? It's not like a replay showing the Dolphins recovering it would change anything. The game is over and there is nothing in the NFL's protest process that could change it.

But it is so stylish. I didn't mean for that to sound like a giant cover up, but it did. I was just meaning to question the spin job of the refs made the right decision. Then why do they keep showing fumble when there is not a question whether the ball was fumbled, because it was. We have all seen the tape of what happened after the fumble whether you watched it live on TV or seen bits and pieces of it through replays. Why ain't they showing this stuff now? Why do they stop the replay before you see the extent of the pile up?
By the way they have admitted that the officiating was wrong.

I have heard them admit that the TD call was wrong to be called so early, but have they ever said the fumble recovery call was wrong?

The bottom line is that it's quite ridiculous that the game has a good number of zebras on the field, then there are others checking a monitor upstairs, and teams still get screwed.
That doesn't make sense at all, in all ends.
That was Miami's ball. Clearly. And they got screwed.
