Former Colts and Buccaneers coach Tony Dungy said Saturday he plans to visit Michael Vick in a federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., on May 5. more... (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4102313)

Not something I would have seen coming. What connection is there between Dungy and Vick aside from both being involved in the NFL?

Dungy's the type of guy who would visit him just to talk to him and try to get his head straight. Genuinely concerned for the guy's well being and all that. But other than that, I don't know.

Dungy is a born-again Christian and feels that he is doing the right thing by wanting to help a young man who apparently did not understand the serious moral deficit he had regarding his attitudes toward animals. It's commendable what Dungy is doing.

OK. so as you guys see it, Dungy is reaching out to Vick? I just didn't know what to make of it at all. It just seemed a little...unexpected since Dungy didn't coach Vick and had no connection with him as far as I know.

The good to come out of his going to jail is that he should have been able to shake most of the thugs in his life. Pacman might be able to do the same in prison... though with Pac he'd probably make new ones in the slammer.

Dungy is an all around good guy. That was the best thing about Indy winning the Super Bowl was Dungy getting a ring.

Maybe Dungy is taking a vacation and needs some one to feed his dogs while he is away.

If I were Goodell, I'd offer Dungy some kind of position with the league where he counsels troubled players. It would be a killer PR move from the Commish's standpoint, and even this Pats fan has to admit that Dungy is a classy, upstanding man who has a big heart and can do a lot of good.

There is no connection. Dungy is just a humble, classy, and all around good guy.
