All over twitter right now. Looking for a reliable source. If true, it's time for McNabb to pull a Young... yes, I'd support HIM doing that.

Confirmed: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/17/report-rex-grossman-to-start-over-mcnabb/

Absolutely disgusted by this.

Then why and the hell sign him to that big extension. Guess if you need a defense in ff this weekend, the Cowboys should feast.

His "big" extension is a joke. It was written in a way to where the Redskins could cut him after this season and end up paying him very little money. It was one of those contracts that the agent can praise that he got done while the team can sit back and see how the player performs before actually having to pay him a bunch of money.

Oh, and why don't you guys like this move? McNabb has played horribly this season.

Jones31

Because Grossman is a worse QB than McNabb.

I honestly haven't seen McNabb play much this season. I've always liked him as a player though. It's been difficult for me because I can't stand the Redskins. Anyway, maybe he's having an off year? Manning is having an off year too, but he flashes. I'd prefer to see a coach have more faith in the guy they select to start. I hate seeing the musical QB role in places like Cleveland and Arizona... and SF now too. I'm in favor of letting the QB play through it until it reaches a point where it's clear that they won't.

And yes, being replaced by Grossman is just a huge slap in the face. Grossman was given the benefit of the doubt for a long time and demonstrated that he's not up for the job.

13 of Manning's 15 interceptions came in a 4 game stretch

He's not really having a bad season. He had a bad 3 or 4 game stretch. A stretch that saw him playing with WR's that wouldn't be starting on most other teams in the NFL.

As for McNabb, I think he's at that point of which you speak of. At least he is with the Redskins. They have been upset with his work ethic all season long and when you combine that with his horrible play and the fact that they have to make a decision on whether to pay him a ton after this season then I think you can see that they are done with him. I don't see this as a game of musical chairs. I see it as Shanahan saying you're never playing in Washington again. Replacing him with Grossman is a huge slap in the face but I think his lack of work ethic has been seen as a slap in the face of the coaching staff.

I don't ever listen to rumors alone but when you combine it with how he has looked on the field then it's not hard to form an opinion that goes along with those rumors.

McNabb is a veteran who has had a pretty good career. He's had his lows, like puking during crunch time at the super bowl or that one benching a year or two ago in favor of Kolb, but his work ethic seems to have had a pretty solid standing... until Washington? Doesn't sound right to me. Shannahan rivals Jeff Fisher on spin. I'm not buying it.

@OOF: And you know his mom and Vince's mom are friends, right? Vince's mom isn't doing soup commercials though.

His work ethic was questioned in Philly as well. T.O. openly questioned his work ethic (and with all the faults T.O. has one of them isn't work ethic) and if you don't want to believe him then read this.

“I was a teammate of Donovan McNabb’s in Philadelphia,” Tim Hasselbeck, husband of “The View” host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, called in to tell ESPN’s Mike And Mike” Show on Tuesday. One of the things that drove them crazy in Philadelphia was the lack of tempo at which he practiced.

“It was always something where you’re leaving the quarterback meeting and it would be, ‘Hey, listen, the head man wants a little more tempo today.’ Nearly every single day,” Hasselbeck went on to explain.

The difference between Philly and Washington is that in Philly he had a real good defense and a RB to make up for it.

lack of tempo??? lol ok. i'm not going to argue. the man has been good and vastly underrated by virtually everyone IMO. You disagree clearly and we'll just agree on that :)

Lack of tempo ?????? I guess Dancing With The Stars wont be an option.

ZachLV27

Is lack of tempo really that hard to understand? Taking your sweet time between plays can really slow down a practice and have a big effect on how quickly you learn.

"His mom, my mom they're good friends as well,'' Young said. "We keep in touch with each other and check on each other and things like that, so I'm going to be happy to be going against him.''

Just goes to show coaches like to pull the "bad work ethic" card to justify their throwing of a player under the bus when their own performance is seriously in question.

Was Shanahan also wrong when he said it about Haynesworth? It's always possible he is right...

i really like mcnabb alot! he is a class act and a great QB. i think that he has been delt very wrong buy the redskins, and its a crying shame! their o line like ours has sucked, and they have been banged up all year! when you don't have a good line, alot of times your QB will struggle, especially to stay on his feet, i would LOOOOOOOVE for us to get mcnabb, when healthy he is one of the best to me, and an all around good guy!

Just like the "Everyone picks on.." and "Nobody Understands..." Poor Vince cards, I guess.
Those mean old, uncaring coaches, they are all over, arent they.

I hate to admit this, but it looks like Shanahan might have been on to something. Grossman has played better than McNabb had been playing. Of course, Grossman is not the long term answer either. But I will have to say that Mike Shanahan appears to have gotten this one right. I was wrong.
