Dont know who's greedier, Comcast or the NFL?

I say should because the NFL probably wont settle for a new deal tonight and will pull the plug on comcast.

I work for Comcast and thats what we heard today:cry

the question will be raised why did Dish or Direct settle but nothing change?

What exactly are you referring to? "settle" ?

Dish won their case with NFL Network, which allows them to the network on the middle tier instead of the lowest one. DirecTv probably doesn't have much choice because of how much they spend for Sunday Ticket.

I do side with Comcast on this particular issue. If the NFL Network won't lower their price and won't let them host it on a special sports package, then Comcast shouldn't back down. It really isn't that great a channel 95% of the time.

NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL Network and Dish Network announced a settlement Friday that ends a lawsuit over how the satellite provider broadcasts the channel.

The agreement includes a multiyear deal for Dish to continue carrying NFL Network. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased that our NFL Network will continue to be distributed in millions of homes on Dish Network," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a release.

Settle doesn't = win.

Settle doesn't = win.

It sure looks like Dish won to me. Dish got their way and the NFL Network didn't. The only benefit for NFL Network is that they at least have a few million subscribers left.

For the time being, I'm a Dish Network subscriber. It would cost another $13 a month for me to get their package that includes the NFLN. Along with that I would also receive a total of 88 cd and Sirius music channels, even more shopping channels, and a few FSN channels. Just not worth it to me.

Since advertising rates are set by viewership, I would think the NFLN would want their product available to as many viewers as possible. Granted, they are backed by the multi-billion dollar monster that is the NFL, but the network is definitely niche programming. I'm guessing they are hoping people that feel as I do are a small minority of fans.

Comcast and the NFL are engaged in productive discussions toward a new agreement for NFL Network carriage on Comcast. NFL Network will continue to be carried on Comcast systems past the scheduled May 1 expiration of the current contract while both sides continue these productive discussions. We are both working to find a solution that works for NFL fans and Comcast’s customers.

I have been with Comcast for many years but last week priced the comparable DirecTV tier in the event I must move to keep NFL Network. Two of my neighbors have had DirecTV with no problems, so I thought it was worth checking.

I can get DirecTV's Choice Extra package (includes four receivers and one DVR, plus free installation) for about $45/month plus tax for a year. The price then increases something like $25/month. Additional receivers are $5 each/month. That is *still* less than I'm paying Comcast now. The technician I spoke with has had DirecTV for five years with only one increase; Comcast here goes up most every year. I'm ready to move if Comcast drops NFL Network.

The sweet part as a comcast sub is that I received a letter offering a free year of Starz, regardless of the outcome of the NFL network issue and when I called to complain they took $25 off of my bill for 6 months. And to top it off I still have NFL network.

They sent me a voucher for either a free PPV or 6 free on demand movies.

I have not received any of those offers yet and as of last night, the NFL network was still on.
