That sounds about right. The 2008 team has answers to about all the 1999 team strengths. The 1999 team blitzed a lot, and relied heavily on turnovers. The 2008 team was great at avoiding sacks and turnovers.

The 1999 team's pass defense wasn't that special, so Collins could pick it apart.

Eddie George would likely struggle against our defense, and McNair would have a tough time throwing the ball.

Now if you compared the 2000 team to the 2008 team, it would be a lot closer. That would be a pretty low scoring game between two awesome defenses.

Video games can't manage heart.

I can't see McNair and Eddie letting themselves get shut out

or even beat for that matter

The '99 team would beat the '08 team. It was a more complete team and didn't choke and turn the ball over in big games.

Here is how I would rank the best Titans teams of all time.

1. 2000 Titans
2. 2002 Titans
3. 2008 Titans
4. 2003 Titans
5. 1999 Titans
6. 2007 Titans

The 1999 Titans were an opportunistic team that benefited heavily from a weak AFC Central division. They had 10 games against division opponents, and won 9 (got crushed by the Ravens, who were 5-7 at the time). There shut out on national television against the Dolphins. And they lost to a 4-12 49ers team.

Thank goodness they had a miracle to beat Buffalo, played the Colts (who still continue to be a terrible playoff team), and beat the Jags, who they had beaten twice already.

The 1999 team is special in my heart for what they did, but they are a great example of proving the best teams don't always make it to the Super Bowl.

The 1999 Titans were an opportunistic team

sect i have only been watching football since i was 11.so thats 11 years...so im sure you have seen WAY more BUT as long as i have been watching professional football OPPORTUNISTIC is the MOST important quality to have in making the Super Bowl...that is the one thing the 2008 team did not show in the playoffs...that IT factor...the '00, '02, '08 etc etc may have been more talented but i have to rank the '99 team number 1 because they had the ONE attribute that is a neccisity to win a super bowl....taking advantage of your breaks

If anything I would say the 2008 Titans were over-achievers. Looking at the roster, this was a 10-6 to 11-5 team at best. The Colts were down but rallied at the end of the season to make the playoffs. Brady went down and the Pats were out of the picture. The Chargers under-achieved. The AFC West was a weak mess as a whole. I believed all season long and still do that the 2008 Titans were an over-achieving team of questionable talent in some spots. They played what proved to be a weak schedule even though it looked very tough in the preseason. A lot of factors both inside and outside the organization contributed to the team's success last year. They were the epitome of opportunistic but still came up short.
