I saw this done on a college forum for the BCS National Title and thought it'd be fun for the NFL.
So let's say that the CBA gets done before training camp and not much is missed, who would be your darkhorse team to win it all this year as of right now before FA? Teams like the Pats, Colts, Steelers, Packets, and Saints aren't darkhorses so who else do you think has what it takes to go all the way?
My personal pick has to be the Tampa Bay Bucs. They've been working hard this offseason with a great group of young players on offense and theyre really building that D now. If not this year I definitely see them being a contender in years to come. But I really like what they've done down there.

They certainly would be a darkhorse haha, more like a miracle....
Unless somehow Peyton Manning doesn't sign a contract with the Colts and Bud just offers him the farm... I don't see it happening, but ya never know!! (but seriously, lets all not get our hopes too high haha, and I really would hate to see Peyton on our team)

Thats just the kind of fan i am. Im not dumb but i think we have a shot. I think it all boils down to Jake. If he comes in and plays good enough ala Mark Sanchez then i see us right back where we were last year at 5-2.

Well I'm not trying to be pessimistic, I'm just trying to be realistic. Teams that have been successful with rookie QB's coming in are only successful because they have everything but the QB on the team. The Jets, Steelers, and Ravens are all teams recently who have had to have rookies come in and play and been successful doing it, however all of those teams had a defense in place. We are in the process of rebuilding our D and going through coaching turnover. Not only that... again there is the lockout.
Also, if I remember correctly, no team has ever won the SB with a rookie QB. Even the Steelers didn't go Ben's rookie year. He made it to the AFC Championship game and lost. He did win the next year. Sanchez has never won a SB but done well in the playoffs, and Flacco has never won a SB either.
By all means guys, wish for the best but don't be too dissapointed if it doesn't come about... My honest opinnion is that within 3 years I would like to see us competing for the AFC Title and I don't think that is too lofty of a goal. And within 5 years I believe we can win a SB. But this upcoming year, I just don't see it. And personally i'm just gonna sit back and enjoy watching our young guys grow and not get too worked up about this season.
