Snedeker shoots 61 at Barclays - course record

While he didn't win the tournament (shortened to 3 rounds because of Hurricane Irene), this was a very impressive performance in golf's version of the playoffs. He started the day in 29th place and ended up in a tie for 3rd (and won $464,000).

He moved from 18th in the FedEx cup standings to 6th. :thumbsup Snedeker has never made the top 30 to qualify for the TOUR Championship (plus earn a whole lot of exemptions for next year), so he is in terrific shape to do so. Heck, he has a chance to win the whole FedEx cup now if he can win one of these last three tournaments.

He got a hole in one today and is currently in 2nd place after two rounds.

He finshed tied for 3rd again, and he moved up to 5th place in the standings.

There is no golf this week, and the top 70 play the following weekend to qualify for the TOUR Championship. I am pretty sure Snedeker is safe to make the top 30, but how he plays in this next tournament will be huge.

After this next tournament, all the points are reset depending on your position. Anyone who is in the top 5 is automatically the FedEx champion if they win the TOUR Championship tourney. So it would be big for Snedeker to stay in the top 5 after this upcoming tourney.
