Sports talk radio host George Plaster has confirmed to The Tennessean that he has left WGFX-FM 104.5 The Zone.

Plaster said he decided on Friday not to remain at the Citadel-owned sports talk show station where he has worked for the past eight years after it was sold to Cumulus earlier in the week.

Its the toughest decision Ive ever had to make in radio, Plaster said. It was very emotional for me because of the people that Ive worked with. The people at 104.5 The Zone are as professional as any radio station that I have ever dealt with. These are friends and weve had unbelievable success at this station.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I posted a few months ago that Citadel bought 104.5, I was worried something bad would happen. It looks like George didn't want to work for the same people that sued him 8 years ago.

Plaster is a special person to me because I moved to Nashville back in the summer of 1995. Listening to him talk about the Braves back then really made me feel at home here. And when the Braves won the World Series that fall, I went to the celebration he organized on the General Jackson.

He is a Braves, Titans, and Vandy fan just like me. I will miss him while he is gone, and I hope he finds his way back to radio at some point.

I admit, i don't know who he is. But what this does remind me of is how much i love Mike Keith. We better get all his classic quotes recorded. Because when he leave, i don't want to hear another guy try to take his place. Just press the "Touchdown Titans!" button and move on sir.

Honestly I stopped listening to his show over the last few weeks, The Game during afternoon drive is horrible, Aaron Soloman isn't cut out for radio.

Plaster definitely knows his baseball. I wish Clay Travis would follow George's lead.

I dont see that bunch holding the fort down in the afternoon. I will miss listening to him on the radio. I always thought that he was somewhat goofy but I enjoyed his show

wow...I liked the show and I listen all the time i do like the option of 102.5 if 104 is talking about something i dont care about but alll aaron can do is give out the phone number...as of now im not liking aaron but its too soon to tell....
I like more of the local talk shows I will listen to local everytime over national...I think if 102 would put local on over the dan patrick show (which i do like they crack me up)it would help them

I wonder if they will move the 3HL to evening drive time?

That show has not been the same. He will be missed. That was my station every afternoon.

I am listening to 102.5 a lot more now since Plaster left. Darren has a great show.

Word is the 3 hour lunch crew is moving to afternoon drive now. Aaron Soloman is about to get crushed.

all this is happening just like it did with 99.7 first george then the rest quickly follow...i agree Aaron is not very good and i wonder if 102.5 is going to fork out the money for most of the game to move over and I wonder if the morning crew follows

That does suck losing Williy, I wish that damn Cumulus would go bankrupt, i'm tired of them screwing everything up.

I'd be surprised if they did make a play for them, the morning show on The Game is pretty good.

The only thing good about Willie leaving is not hearing those annoying commercials with his wife. Those things are freaking awful.

George and Willie probably have something in the works
