8. Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans
This one also had a good comeback last season. After a few down years for Tennessee, it appeared as though Jacksonville had taken its place as Indianapolis' chief AFC South rival. Then Jeff Fisher's team snatched the division crown away. Really, this rivalry started when the division was formed seven years ago, with the Volunteers' favorite son Peyton Manning taking on a team from Nashville. It then hit an early peak when Manning and Steve McNair(notes) were named league co-MVPs in 2003. Expect a great series in '09.

Not volatile enough to be on the list as far Titans Rivalrys go....
1. Titans and Ravens............ Nuff said
2. Titans and Jacksonville.... The bad blood is boiling over when we face the kittens. The touchdown celebrations refering to hags incarcirated receivers and constantly a hard hitting trash-talking rivalry.
3. Titans and Colts.... For virtually the same reason as the article had mentioned. Just trying to establish who is the kings of the South.
4. Titans and Steelers..... I think last years game and the actions some players may or may not have done on camera with a snot yellow towel. That and the Titans feeling that another championship lost that could've/should've/would've been theirs if "INSERT REASON" would've or would no have happened has poured gasoline on this rivalries fire. BURN BABY BURN!!!!
5. Titans and Texans..... Still hard hitting and has the probality to end up on NFL Replay everytime we play them.

Titans-Colts is listed over these others for several reasons.
1. Titans-Colts game in Nashville is the first game to sell out, always.
2. From a national perspective, Titans-Colts is a better ratings draw than any of the others (though Steelers-Titans is right up there). Non-Titans fans aren't that interested in Baltimore-Tennessee due to the low scoring nature of the games.
3. The AFC South has had two champions in it's 7 years. Until Jacksonville or Houston wins the division, Colts-Titans will remain the biggest divisional rivalry in the AFC South.
Now personally, the Titans-Ravens is the biggest postseason rivalry (no other team is even close), and Titans-Jaguars is the biggest regular season rivalry (due to the fact that both teams win, usually on the opposing field).

I wasn't disputing what the media says/thinks (at least not in this thread), just stating that we as Titans Fans don't hold the Titans-Colts rivalry in as high regard as some of the above mentioned rivalries. THat and the simple undisputable fact that beyond a shadow of a doubt, absolutely, positively
HATE THE RATBIRDS!!!!

A sports rivalry is intense competition between athletic teams or athletes. This pressure of competition is felt by players, coaches, and management, but is perhaps felt strongest by the fans. The intensity of the rivalry varies from a friendly competition on one end to serious violence on the other that, in one case (the Football War), was suggested to have led to military conflict. Team owners typically encourage rivialries as they tend to improve game attendance and television ratings for rivalry matches, but a rivalry that gets out of control can lead to fighting, hooliganism, and rioting. Often the topic of sports rivalries is as heated and controversial as politics and religion.
Rivalries stem from various sources. Simple geographic proximity as well as frequent meetings in important games can lead to rivalries. Social and political tensions can also be played out by proxy in a sports rivalry, as when Glasgow's sectarian differences are expressed in the Celtic-Rangers derby (known as the Old Firm derby), or when the Spanish-Catalan political conflict spills over to a Real Madrid-FC Barcelona football match (also known as El Clasico). Rivalries of the friendlier sort are common between college athletic programs in the United States and often involve pranks that rival student bodies play on each other, such as stealing the other school's mascot or painting school colors somewhere on the opposing school's campus.
In some leagues rivalries are officially regarded as important games and the winner gets an unusual prize (i.e. grill, trophy, high-definition television,etc.)---wikipedia
Baltimore is our biggest rival in my opinion.

I have to go with post-season ratbirds, too, followed by regular season jags. And I don't know why, but the Texans always scare me.

I think of them as our little brothers. As the older sibling, you just don't want to lose to them, but it gets harder and harder each year.

All due respect, and as some folks know the Titans are my #2, but...
Steelers owned that one. Until the Titans get some revenge, it's not a "rivalry." That monniker implies some even-ness.

While the Steelers owned the Houston Oilers, the Titans/Oilers have dominated the Steelers since the move to Tennessee.
1-0 in the playoffs
10-4 in the regular season
7-1 at home
4-3 in Pittsburgh

Did the "bad blood" start before last season?
I just know that when both teams were in the AFC Central, "Pittsburgh week" always got the team and fans in a more energetic mood. Those games were huge for the TN Oilers/Titans, and one of them was even responsible for the move to Vandy (due to the thousands upon thousands of Steelers fans filling up the Liberty Bowl).
I don't know about "bad blood", especially since it had been a few years since the Titans had last played them.

Jeff always told the players that Pitt was rivalry a rivalry to him while Cower was there. I forgot the exact reason why.... I believe it has something to do with someone getting a broke leg.

There has been always good reasons to think that the ratbirds are the most hated rival...and they still are after we were screwed on past season and they "taking our privilege" away...as it happened.
The AFC South...Indianapolis after so many years reigning in the division, we have had enough good and close battles against them. But until Manning retires that phrase he said "At least we are not a 5-11 team..."will always be ringing in my head, and that made the rivalry grow. Only see how Pay-me-a-ton is treated when we can sack him.
Jacksonville and Houston haven't been a threat, both teams had tried their hardest, and Jeff Fisher have their numbers. Still, since they're division opponents, the rivalry will always exist. And Bud Adams helped to get that bar raised by drafting Young.
And last but not least...what a way to bring back an AFC Central rivalry. Pittsburgh is on the radar, and in the other hand: New England will after the 2003 Playoff game...we can bring them "down" to our level. (effin Brady).

Thanks for saving me the trouble Sect309! :thumbsup
I'm not sure where the myth comes from that the Steelers have "owned" the Titans. It's simply not true. I've encountered that perception in the past while talking with friends who are fans of other teams. When the Titans whipped the Steelers last year one of my friends said to me, "I bet it feels good to finally get a win against the Steelers, huh?" :rant
