Crazy start to SEC Baseball Tourney

In the opening round of the SEC baseball tournament, all four lower seeded teams won. :ohmy

Vandy had a huge win over #2 in the nation LSU. :thumbsup Their bullpen has been so suspect this year, so they did the smart thing and let their best pitcher throw a complete game (Mike Minor). Now they get to play a South Carolina team that had to use four pitchers in an 11-inning win in the late game last night (finished close to 2 AM).

Vandy was definitely a bubble team coming into the tournament. Beating the #2 team may be just enough to push them into the NCAA's. But I hope we can win a couple more to make it easier for them to decide.

Vandy beat South Carolina with a bases-loaded walk in the top of the 9th inning. :woot

That should be enough for them to get into the NCAA tourney. They get today off and play the winner of the Florida-Arkansas game on Saturday.

Vandy was the only low seed to win in the 2nd round. Florida eliminated Ole Miss, LSU knocked out Alabama, and Georgia sent Arkansas to the losers bracket.

Vandy has woke up. Just beat Arkansas with the 10 run rule in the 7th to take them to the SEC Championship. Not the same Vandy team that I saw last weekend.

All I can say is that Vandy really likes playing in Hoover. I can't explain how they do well there, but I am glad they do.

I was so depressed about this team after the sweep by UT. Now I am pumped up again. :woot

Well, Vandy couldn't win it all, but making the championship game as a #8 seed was very impressive. We will find out today where they are going.
