How excited are you guys for today's FIFA championship game against Brazil? I don't get too pumped up for soccer, but when the US is playing in their first ever FIFA championship, I get excited. :banana

I started paying attention to this tournament when the US pulled off a miracle by beating Egypt 3-0 and having Brazil beat Italy 3-0 (you know how I am about tiebreakers. :D )

Then the US somehow beat Spain 1-0, a team that hadn't lost in about 15 major tournament games.

Now America gets to face Brazil, a team they have beat only once. But this is also the first time the US is in the finals for one of these events, so anything could happen.

Programming note: this game was orginally scheduled for ESPN2 at 1 PM Central. However, due to the significance of this game (I assume), it has been switched to ESPN (still at 1 PM). I had to manually program my DVR to record it (I guess they will move bowling to ESPN2).

This is the FIFA Confederations Cup, and the U.S. team did a very good job over Spain, who haven't lost for a long time and was playing solid soccer.

Watching the match right now. VERY exciting for soccer. Kind of an oxymoron isn't it ? I was extremely impressed with the victory over Spain. Brazil and the Cup would just be gravy. The U.S. is going to represent next year at The World Cup !

The U.S. is playing a high Soccer level. They were winning 2-1...but Brazil is a tough team to contain.

Great and enteratining game.

I just got home an watched the (quickened) replay of the game. I was so excited when the US scored their 2nd goal. But it wasn't meant to last. :(

It was still a very good effort to challenge Brazil till the end. I think this whole tourney is a positive step for American soccer.

The U.S. is a team that has also pulled the bar in the CONCACAF area (which serves to see whose American Continent teams' will attend to the World Cup...next one will take place in South Africa 2010). They are playing high level soccer, they are unbeatable at the U.S. and they also win outside.

If the national US league keep growing, they can be a contender at Brazil world cup (2014) ... It was a good game!

I've been watching the U.S. matches when on TV and they continue to improve. They are playing the best that I have seen them in a long time. The Gold Cup starts this weekend and hopefully the U.S. will do well in this as well.
