On Friday morning a 49ers spokesman said that free agent addition Brandon Jones would miss "a couple of weeks." That didn't necessarily seem PFT post-worthy.
On Friday afternoon, 49ers head coach Mike Singletary contradicted the spokesman.
"Oh, it's going to be longer than a couple of weeks. It's going to be more like eight weeks," Singletary said.
Jones has a fracture in his shoulder. Now that's post-worthy! (So is the fact an NFL coach went out of his way to be transparent.)
Jones isn't a big name, but he received relatively big money - $5.4 million guaranteed - to jump from the Titans to the 49ers this offseason.
He was one of the consistent standouts of camp thus far, and looked like the heavy favorite to fill the team's slot receiver duties behind Josh Morgan and Isaac Bruce, at least until Michael Crabtree returned.
