Default Ben Roethlisberger agrees in shortening Pre-Season

    Roethilsberger's points:

    • Two preseason and 16 regular.
    • Preseason is still important in the sense that you're giving guys a chance to show what they can do.
    • The increasing evidence of the dangers of playing football medically, to play extra games that don't count for anything.
    • Teams generate revenue by forcing season-ticket holders to pay for them.
    • Though it might actually happen in the near future.

I think everyone but the owners would support that. The owners don't want to give up the revenue from 2 preseason games. But 18 regular season games (plus up to 4 postseason games) are too much.

Would rather just see an 18 game schedule with no pre-season at all.

Allow teams to carry slightly expanded 70 man rosters the first 2-4 weeks of the season (almost like pre-season rosters), then cut it down to 53 after this period.

Allow all teams a 6 week training camp before the first game.

You lose two games, but now you have more competitive games, plus every game counts

Owners would never go for losing 2 games, and coaches would hate it. However, I think it would be much more enjoyable for fans to see every game competitive. I'd gladly trade 4 preseason games for 2 regular season games.
