Default AFC South Standings (week 3)

    Titans 2-1 (2-0 division)
    Jags 2-1 (0-1 division)
    Colts 1-2 (0-0 division)
    Texans 0-3 (0-1 division)

I like what I am seeing so far.

    Week 4 Standings:

    Titans 3-1 (2-0 division)
    Jags 3-1 (0-1 division)
    Texans 1-3 (1-1 division)
    Colts 1-3 (0-1 division)

The Colts had a tough decision in OT yesterday as well. They had the ball near midfield after both teams kicked a field goal, and it was 4th and 4. If they punt, the game surely ends in a tie. Going for it gives them a chance to win, but also gives them a great chance to lose if they don't convert. As we know, they didn't convert, giving the Texans enough time to get into field goal range to win it.

I think a Colts loss helped us more, since we already have a win against the Texans, and it keeps both teams 2 games back.

    Week 5 Standings:

Titans 3-2 (2-0 division, 2-2 conference, 0-0 in uncommon games)
Jags 3-2 (0-1 division, 2-2 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)
Texans 2-3 (1-1 division, 1-2 conference, 0-0 in uncommon games)
Colts 1-4 (0-1 division, 0-3 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)

The Titans loss to the Bills yesterday did hurt because is was a common, conference game. Will any other AFC South team lose to the Bills?

Our two uncommon games are the next two on the schedule (Ravens, Chargers). I hope the Titans win both, but it will put more pressure on the Titans to sweep our division opponents so that we don't lose the common games tiebreaker.

    Week 6 Standings:

Titans 3-3 (2-0 division, 2-3 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)
Texans 3-3 (1-1 division, 2-2 conference, 0-0 in uncommon games)
Jags 3-3 (0-1 division, 2-2 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)
Colts 1-5 (0-1 division, 0-4 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)

The Texans take over the #2 spot with their pick six win against the Bills. The Titans remain in first place, but just barely, thanks to their wins over the Texans and Jags. At least the Ravens were an uncommon game, but so far no one in the division has won one of these yet.

    Week 7 Standings:

Texans 4-3 (2-1 division, 3-2 conference, 0-0 in uncommon games)
Titans 3-4 (2-0 division, 2-4 conference, 0-2 in uncommon games)
Jags 3-4 (0-2 division, 2-3 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)
Colts 2-5 (0-1 division, 1-4 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)

This week the Texans take over first place as the Jags keep losing. It does worry me since we haven't played in Houston yet.

The Titans still control their destiny.

    Week 8 Standings:

Texans 5-3 (2-1 division, 4-2 conference, 0-0 in uncommon games)
Titans 3-4 (2-0 division, 2-4 conference, 0-2 in uncommon games)
Colts 3-5 (0-1 division, 2-4 conference, 1-1 in uncommon games)
Jags 3-5 (0-2 division, 2-3 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)

The Jags have fallen to 4th place with their loss to the Eagles in London. The Colts are the first team to win an uncommon game with their victory over the Raiders today.

The Texans are on a 5 game win streak since losing those first three games. They appear to be the main competition for winning the division. The Titans really need to play a great game against Dallas a week from Monday to keep up in this race (with the Patriots looming the week after).

    Week 9 Standings:

Texans 6-3 (2-1 division, 5-2 conference, 1-0 in uncommon games)
Titans 4-4 (2-0 division, 2-4 conference, 0-2 in uncommon games)
Colts 3-5 (0-1 division, 2-4 conference, 1-1 in uncommon games)
Jags 3-5 (0-2 division, 2-3 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)

It was a huge win for the Titans to keep within one loss of the Texans. The next three weeks will be big in determining who leads the division.

    Titans: Patriots, @Colts, @Texans
    Texans: bye, @Redskins, Titans
    Colts: Jags, Titans, Dolphins
    Jags: @Colts, Steelers, @Bills

The division-leading Redskins really need to beat the Texans in two weeks, since the Titans likely lose to the Patriots (though at least we have a chance if we play like most of the Cowboys game).

The Titans@Colts game can't be ignored, and it will be crucial to win that to make the playoffs. The Titans still have never beaten Luck, so this will be their chance.

While the Jags are reeling, I don't want them to have any chance at the division. Just keep losing.

    Week 10 Standings:

Texans 6-3 (2-1 division, 5-2 conference, 1-0 in uncommon games)
Titans 5-4 (2-0 division, 3-4 conference, 0-2 in uncommon games)
Colts 4-5 (1-1 division, 3-4 conference, 1-1 in uncommon games)
Jags 3-6 (0-3 division, 2-4 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)

The Jags appear to be done after losing 5 in a row.

The Titans play at the Colts and at the Texans the next two games. Colts have won 3 in a row and the Texans 6 in a row, though the Texans play at the 6-3 Redskins next week. The Texans really only have 3 somewhat tough games left on their schedule besides the Titans game (@Redskins, the surprising Browns, and @Eagles).

If the Titans win these next two, the Redskins are the only real tough game on their schedule, and they are a banged up team. We do have to be careful, since the Mularkey-led Titans blew games to a bad Jags team 2 years ago and some bad teams down the stretch last year.

If the Titans play like they have the last two games, they can beat anyone. Hopefully they can keep building on their successes and keep cutting down on mistakes.

I guess the talk about the Jags being a dark horse SB team and them running the division for the next few years were premature?

    Week 11 Standings:

Texans 7-3 (2-1 division, 5-2 conference, 1-0 in uncommon games)
Colts 5-5 (2-1 division, 4-4 conference, 1-1 in uncommon games)
Titans 5-5 (2-1 division, 3-5 conference, 0-2 in uncommon games)
Jags 3-7 (0-3 division, 2-5 conference, 0-1 in uncommon games)

It really sucks that the Colts passed us to 2nd place in the division.

There are 6 games left. The Titans play some pathetic teams (Jets, Giants, Jags) which should get us to 8 wins. The Redskins just lost their QB for the year, so that should be a win as well.

Our whole playoff chances reside on whether we can beat the Texans next week and the Colts to end the season (on what I hope is a freezing cold day). We need at least one win out of the two to get to 10-6.

There are 5 teams now at 5-5 vying for that 2nd wildcard spot. Our playoff hopes certainly are not dead, though we can't afford another game like this one.
Go Titans! Go Braves! Go Preds! Go Dores!
