Can anyone explain to me why Crennel made the decision to go for 2 when a PAT Puts them up 8, impossible to lose the game that way? What a gift he handed the Titans
What a long strange trip it's been...

    Some thoughts on the game.

    1. The Titans had been winning game by making fewer mistakes than our opponents. That didn't happen today, as we had a fumble (which our lineman fell on and for some reason tried to get up afterwards, resulting in losing the ball), an interception, a blocked field goal, and a missed field goal (at the worst time). Titans also had more penalties than the Texans (7 for 73 yards compared to 4 for 46 yards).

    2. Third and fourth down defense was terrible. Texans were 7-14 on third down and 3 for 3 on fourth down.

    3. We had 601 yards of offense (compared to Texans 412). That may be the record (still looking). Just amazing. Yes, it is the new franchise record!!!

    4. Henry had 212 yards rushing and 52 yards receiving and 2 TDs (including the game winner). Just incredible!

    5. Tannehill went 30 of 41 for 364 yards and 4 TDs and 1 INT. That is such a huge stat too.

    6. With Smith hurt, Firkser showed up in a big way with 8 catches for 113 yards and 1 TD.

A two point conversion is a 50-50 shot, so he had a 50-50 shot to win the game outright if the conversion was good.

My argument is when you are lucky once (converting on 4th down), don't push your luck. The Texans did, and it cost them.

I do think Vrabel did the right thing and went for the tie at the end. We were lucky on the TD, so no need to push it even farther.

    Other milestones...

100th win at Nissan Stadium (98 regular season, 2 playoff)

Henry is the first running back in NFL history with a 200+ rushing game for 3 consecutive seasons.
He also is the fourth running back to have 200+ rushing game against the same opponent in back-to-back games.

It was an idiot decision by a team that makes a lot of those, and a gift to the Titans. You go up 8, and put all the pressure on them to not only drive the field for a TD but need that conversion. The odds are stacked against Tennessee in that scenario.

We were darn lucky on the 2 point play by the Texans. The receiver was wide open after fooling the defender, but Watson didn't react quick enough. After he took a few steps to avoid the pass rush, it gave Simmons enough time to deflect the pass.

Texans had a 50-50 shot of winning with a 2-point conversion, but it gave the Titans a 95% (guess) chance of tying with a TD (and a 50-50 of winning if they wanted to gamble). If the Texans kick the extra point, then the Titans have a 50-50 shot of tying and no chance of winning.

I would have kicked, but a 1-4 team with almost no shot at the playoffs and a temp coach has little to lose.
